How are you measuring ppfd?Yes, but I am learning the power of this led compared to a hps. Started bleaching leafs so I turn it down. Just to turn it back up a week later. I feel like I'm going into flower with my light not turned up high enough. (400 ppfd) about 24 inches from the canopy
How often should I increase my light? I'm only on setting 3 of 10
I use an Apogee MQ-610 Par Meter. I would highly recommend a par meter if you don’t have one. The Apogee MQ-500 & 600 series meters are the best on the market.
I veg my plants pretty much exclusively at 400 ppfd 15/hrs a day with mostly indica dominant strains (other strains may prefer as high as 600 ppfd) When I move them to flower, they start anywhere from 400-600 ppfd and are maxed out at 800-900 ppfd within 2 weeks for me (usually within 10 days). My target for the canopy is even 800 ppfd coverage.
Also, the primary benefit of a bar light is being able to run it close to the canopy. Fluence has a recommended hanging height of 6-12 inches. That’s the same height I run my bar lights. That will allow you to run a reduced (lower percentage) light output and produce the same ppfd. You will get significantly better efficacy out of your light which will: 1. reduce your electricity usage 2. Increase your lights overall lifespan 3. Decrease heat.
Just to give you an idea, I’m running 2 light bars totaling 600w over my plants. They’re hanging approx 6-12 inches over the canopy, dimmed to 45% I’m getting even 800-900 ppfd.
