Hi Farmers!

I’ve recently began my first outdoor grow so would love some experienced thoughts on them lol.

Now a bit of context before you see the photos… I am not a pro grower, nor am I trying to be. So all the technicality and expensive kit is not for me…yet.

As you can see I have 3 plants. 2 of them were planted 3 weeks ago and the other months ago. They are all auto flowering strains.

The biggest one although looks shit, I am pretty happy about haha. I sprouted the seed for this one, put it on the balcony and then left the country for 3 months when it was a sapling. So it’s a miracle it’s survived and I’ll be impressed with 1 joint out of it considering it was left in a half filled poor of soil with no attention

The other 2 i am hoping for a bit more. We’re not talking anything major so won’t be doing all the stress training etc to maximise yeald, just after a couple of healthy plants to get a bit of weed.

1 of these youngens seems to be on its way looking good to me, the other a bit worse for wear…

It’s very basic stuff, cheap pot and a bag of standard soil and then the water.

What are your thoughts on them?! Again, no expertise here and minimum effort lol so any constructive feedback is well received but save the judgements!!

Welcome to RIU. You are in a good place.

I would recommend some reaserch on growing Cannabis. a great start is the online bible growweedeasy.com
It has sections on different grow systems including outdoor grows
Another great resource is right here on the Farm. use the 3 horizontal bars to navagate to the Diaries section. From there use the search button to find what you want like Autos, outside, soil and it will throw up posts that you can read from seed to harvest. You can find a grower that has a great system and follow them and watch and learn.

" Save the Judgements " What do expect a trophy? To @GreenGrower19 your plants have thrips, pots need good drainage and filled properly. You could do a half ass grow but to ask questions on these sick looking plants and ways to improve on your grow even joke about the lack of care is to me offensive to the community. You must of seen or search somewhere on growing i hope? If these are bag seeds oh well. This is a open forum, if you even tried to grow some healthy plants i would'nt of said a word, but your careless attitude about it shows volumes.

No disrespect meant dude. Didn’t mean to come across in the wrong way. It’s not a lack of care at all.

As I said in the post I do indeed want some nice healthy plants. My joking demeanour was more to do with the fact that like you say… there are some incredible looking plants on here! so had just prepared for some unworthy comments that’s all.

As a newbie, I have done my research but it can get a lot learning about everything that seems pretty advanced to begin with. So I began small. But it almost makes it sound like growing it naturally is impossible!

They’re getting about 7 hours of direct sunlight a day (which I know they need more of usually) but it’s on the balcony so have to work with what I’ve got.

I water them when they’re dry which is usually every day or every other day (I soak the mud through completely).

I’ve got a bottle of all in one nutrient which I’ve only given them once or twice so far as don’t know much about that yet.

And I’ve got some natural pesticide because the bugs seem to like my leaves too…

Real basic stuff is all I’ve got access to for now, but still trying for some great small and healthy plants.

The 1 miracle bud that is growing feels like an achievement to me already lol and looking forward to what these 2 will look like now I’m back!

Happy smoking brother.

Welcome! Now that the ass chewing is out of the way, time to move on! I have to go work on my own place for a few hours, but will check back in with you! There should be others to offer up some tips! Hang in there!

Haha thanks mate.

I did try and edit the post but it won’t let me… “minimum effort” was the wrong choice of words. “Minimum equipment” was what I had in mind. At least the future readers know.

Good luck pal! I’ll keep ya posted

One thing is for sure, you can only get better. Bigger pots, don’t drown them and maybe change your soil.everyone here didn’t start as an expert. But I think everyone has grown other stuff. I have a big vegetable and flower garden, marijuana is just another plant in my garden. Relax , read and learn. Everyone here is extremely nice, they all want you to succeed.

I suggest solo cups. Super easy to start plants. Beginner friendly. When you put in a bigger pot there easier to water

I keep them in cups for 4 weeks. By than the roots are developed better. It's super hard watering small plants in big pots. The solos only need like 6oz 8oz of water like 3 times in that month. First dry back when there tiny could take 11 plus days. As they grow the days shorten between waterings. My first attempt was straight into big pots. I over watered and they damped off. Basically drowned em out.

Hmmm im now thinking i could be overwatering then if im doing it almost daily. Currently I am watering when the soil is dry (put my finger in a couple of inches to check moisture). Should I be letting them sit in dry soil for a few days then or keep watering when dry? Is there a tell tale sign to look out for if they are being overwatered? (I am growing in Spain so it is hot here!)

I think it should be ok as the plants seem to be doing ok so far no? I’m happy with one of them but the other seems like the tiny leaves got burnt off?! Hoping it will just regrow and get better from where it is and not just start to go downhill

Overwater is harder to know. Underwater them for to long and the whole plant droops. Lays down and looks sad. I've learned to water 25% pot size. 5 gal pot about a gal. 3 gal pot half gallon. Soak your pot really good. Than let it dry out really good. Dryback. Easiest way to know is to let them get droopy. Than water.
Next level is learning pot weight when it's dry. Get a feel for it. Water fully. Pick it up wet and get a feel for that weight. Usually the pot will feel like Styrofoam when it's ready for water.
Best advice pick your pots up a lot. I can tell how many days the pot will stay wet by weight.

In the seedling stage if you fuck up they just stop growing. That's the hardest part is first 3 weeks.
