Thanks! Hard to say (first grow not sure how mushy normal flower is), but no obvious brown mush. But California has been more humid than usual, not super hot, so i am leaning toward some limited fungus/rot. Maybe i should cut some of the browning flower off to limit spread? Definitely will be happy to see more color on pistils soon and chop this guy - already smells strong and fantastic for what that’s worth

Chucky is right. Cut out anything brown and any flower that’s touching the bad one, and don’t go smooshing your filthy hands over everything, it’s contagious.

There should be Zero Brown
Material right now.

I never like giving them less light! I think it’s counterproductive. If you’re down around San Jose, you’re going to get that marine layer coming in every night and giving you problems. Just no way around it. A patch of brown sugar leaves in the middle of healthy sugar leaves is never good. at least now you know what to look for. And all you can do is cut it out. If you want to try moving them in go for it. That part is up to you. If you cut that butt off, take a good look at it and see if you can see the rot . You might even find a caterpillar in there.

I will take a careful look. Thanks to you and others for taking the time to share your insight with a newbie!

Yea I kind of suspected bud rot, like the other guys said IF you pull the leaves and they come out essy. Remove the affected bud carefully.

If this is not pest related I'm wondering if this is a lack of calcium.

I would get rid of that suspicious looking bud altogether, but that's just me. I cut anything that looks like that and all around it. Just recently dealt with both bud rot and bud worms from an outdoor grow. Finishing my last plant indoors and still finding the occasional larva upon inspection.
