Just no way around it. A patch of brown sugar leaves in the middle of healthy sugar leaves is never good. at least now you know what to look for. And all you can do is cut it out. If you want to try moving them in go for it. That part is up to you. If you cut that butt off, take a good look at it and see if you can see the rot . You might even find a caterpillar in there.
