First time autoflower, what happened?

Hey everyone! New to the forum! This is my 4th time growing outdoor but my first with autoflowers. Normally I do really well but these ones have me stumped. Take a look at the pictures, these were planted around May 20th. Should I harvest? There’s no pistils? Both of these are purple kush autoflower.

Bump, any ideas?? Im at the 13 week mark and there's no pistils, they seem really airy and spreadout, you can see on the 2nd picture.

sheesh man sorry nobody has helped out yet, I wish I could give you some knowledge but I’m a newbie myself. If I had to take any guess I would say bad lighting? Could also just be in really poor overall health. Maybe improper lighting, or environment, root problems, pests, etc etc. I notice a lot of leaves curling up down some burnt some yellowing etc etc also, it almost looks like a male to me. I’ve never seen flowers like that before… like the clusters in the screenshot I took, very weird looking.

So they are growing between slatted fences, that’s most likely the issue. The stretched out nature of the plant, tells me it has been light deprived.

sheesh man sorry nobody has helped out yet, I wish I could give you some knowledge but I’m a newbie myself. If I had to take any guess I would say bad lighting? Could also just be in really poor overall health. Thank you for the reply! I agree, something seems off with both of these. I've grown in the same place for the last 4 years but it has rained a lot more this year than others. It gets direct sun from about 11am-6pm probably, it's a very airy place as well. No pests etc that I've seen. I have a 3rd plant which is Northern Lights photo, non-autoflower, and it looks good so far.

It most likely it only gettting maybe an hour of direct sunlight at high noon. Other than that if you look at the way the calyx are stacking in the flower, it’s trying to bloom outwards. Instead of upwards, it’s trying to get to the light between the slats I think. That’s what’s causing the sparcity in growth. No solid light schedule.

I think autoflowers run a higher light time than your photos. Autos need to be in like an 18 on 6 off light schedule or 14-10

Autos may seem like they are easier, but depending they can really be a pain. Honestly, I would just run them out on the clock and hope for the best. I think the growth patterns on the plant suggest a struggle for consistency in lighting. It’s all good though. Just learning what not to do. Do you have any pics of previous plants in the same spot?

Tbh I have no idea on how they would turn out smoke wise I do see some trichomes on there so I just did a lil Google search it says most auto strains will work best on a 20/4 light or 18/6 light schedule. I’d hate to say trash cause who wants to throw bud away. I feel like the drying/curing process would be hard since the buds aren’t big nugs. Possible something you could use to make live rosin out of or maybe press some dab

I also meant to ask, does it stay breezy in between them fences? Or does the air get stuffy at all? At soil level? Heat also causes these issues. Also the light colored fence, that is a color that will reflect a ton of light at peak sun. With it being in between the fences like that, it may also be an airflow thing that’s causing it, so a, heat b, placement and c airflow are all contributing factors.

It was a bad time to take the photo, it was in the evening and the sun was setting below the trees behind me. Where they are, the sun is actually directly over for many hours. The breeze generally does go through there, not from the slats in the fence. It has been abnormally hot and humid in Ontario this year which could play into it. My previous harvests with photos have been decent, never huge buds but decent size and many. I can't say how much exactly but I normally get 8 or 9 large mason jars packed pretty full from 3 plants or so. I don't have any pictures of my previous grows unfortunately.

I think you are right that maybe this isn't the best grow location and that the autos might just be pickier. I will try moving them into a less restrictive area and see if anything changes.

Just know, that there really will not be much change to your plants at this point, autos are on a clock from the jump, and the growth is what it is. So your idea is good always stay proactive, just know in this case, the ship has for the most part sailed.
