40 yrs ago when I started smoking we would get the 30$ oz, that had about a lb of seeds and branches the size of your little finger. What were we smoking? It was nothing compared to today’s crops, but all ways got the job done. It was throw the seed down and hope for the best. I also think that when they yanked it from the ground they just threw it into a wood chipper and bagged it.

I think they used that short-lived kitchen appliance — the trash compactor — to make those bricks.

Colombian usually came that way, too, as I recall.

Well, you know Colombia is growing and importing soon it seems. I've had brick weed but now it seems they have learned to have less males in the grow & I grew seed from some "reggie" which was very potent lately. I was amazed at the quality, even with a few seeds which I will pop and run soon. SS

Growing on that scale, a lot of the times they would harvest a field and just throw it in a pile to "dry", with enough moisture left in the stems to cure when they bricked it up.

Things that I have found in the center of bricks...... all dead.... Cats, lizards, snakes(including a cobra one time). rats, mice, mice and more mice.... $300 in a $100 bill and some 20's and 10's.

And someone's finger.

Then they had the paraquat scare, we just thought the weed had was going to be stronger.

Back when calling weed "Diesel Weed" was actually DIESEL WEED drove over the border, ohh that smell, and then someone had the Tide weed going on in the very early 90's!

in 1974 i smoked my first. giant yellow flavored papers, and rolled a "fatty" - well tried... it was a dime bag - $10 and 4 fingers in knoxville tn. that is how they measured back then. everything was "mexican skunk".

went to texas the next year, el paso! weed came from mexico. i could get a kilo from a "friend" for $120. it was always a brick, and although i never found a cat or a finger, i found lots of other things in the brick. mostly you just got over it! lol

then i was working for a contractor and found someone on this side of the border who actually was a farmer. the stuff he grew was by far the best and the best looking i have ever seen. it was all hush hush but he grew for "science" on white sands. he grew sinsemilla, it was new and all the rage! it was a distinct orange and the first oz i bought was one bud in a gym bag, lol. that was around 1979 or 1980.

stayed in el paso till the wall came down in 1989 - and i went to europe, spent a lot of time in Amsterdam and found that there were tons of different strains of weed around that didnt start with "mexican" and didnt come in a brick. the popular one then was lemon lemon (pronounced lee-mon lee-moan)

seedless sinsemilla was all over the place by then and weed there was killer! but, it may have been the time and place. back then we walked the streets of amsterdam all night and no troubles at all. we even had our kids (girls -16 and 10) there and never had to worry about violence or anything. they could use the euro pass and go from country to country by themselves... no google no cell phone (although i had military como)

then the world went with peeing in a cup and since i was a government contractor, working around the world on military bases, i just stopped weed. oddly enough, i have to date never been asked to take any drug test. but since i was a boss i felt i shouldnt do things i had to fire people over. i did, however, leave the list on my desk as soon as i got it... signed a lot of leave requests.

then here... you could get some ok weed, some good stuff occasionally, but at a sky high price and through too many hands. they want 20 a gram, even when you want an oz (might get $15 a gram stuff if you do a lot of business.) then i found an ok source, decent but $250 an oz, and not a great oz.

i use to get 1 oz a month at payday. i use to try to make it last, but not successfully, i got it i smoked it up!

then, i found this site, and some seeds and now, its soooo different. i had never thought to grow it, but i am farm stock, and figured, wth.

i have never sold weed, never wanted to. i share a lot and smoke my brains out and the quality is great and the price is good, well, mostly not bad! the first oz was thousands... but the next was much cheaper, lol

i once sat down and tried to figure how much i smoke a month, but i havent a clue. i tried every smoking method too, but now i smear some qwiso on it, roll it up and smoke.

long winded, but the history of the weed is really fascinating. if the south hadnt taken the stand of cotton or nothing, both indigo and hemph would be all over. we started the war on weed. just to control it in relation to cotton. - ok, i admit i have simplified it all, but that is what happened if you take all the "fried" brain stuff out.

and ill end with a question, in legal states do doctors (real docs not the clinic card guys) use pot in their tool chest of remedies soothing? my x-doctor still talks like it will kill you if you look at it and it will kill everyone i know if i actually smoke it. i had to ask for proof it caused anything, and especially cancer (which is what he said i would pass to my family). nothing, so i found a new doc and havent told them yet...

i had to tell the anesthesiologist because it takes more to put you under if you smoke, nothing bad, they just need to know to adjust the flow.

LOL!!!

Freakin nails man... I could build a house with all the spikes and nails I have found...

i found lots of coins, that is one way i knew it was mexican. found rotted things, but being a girl, i just didnt look (that means its not there, right?) i once threw away about 3 or 4 ounces because i found a rubber, something i just couldnt get over... and i had a couple pounds. i sliced off the whole end, with an electric knife and squealed a lot.

i think of all the worry over mold and mildew, and i KNOW its bad!!! but im pretty sure everyone smoking back then was smoking mildew and condoms and maybe a cat

Morning OG's, I mean old dudes. I had the brick, the seeds but no coins or fingers. Now I grow and I cut my own hair. Haircut were $8-10 but now are $23.00 and up. I give up, learned to grow better & better and won't look back! SS after 60.

No they used hydraulic jacks in a press frame. Box open on the top and bottom. Mormon cheese presses were also used. Those bales were big and round. Those got broken up for transport north because of the size and shape.

I know this because I used to be involved in it. El Paso. And my father built a shitload of these press frames and the boxes. He was tickled with the money and loved the story these guys would tell. “It’s for pressing coconut oil.”
