I'm no soil guy. But I keep moms in soil. Just tried Roots Organic original potting soil. This shit has me impressed so far lots of good stuff in it.

I'm no soil guy. But I keep moms in soil. Just tried Roots Organic original potting soil. This shit has me impressed so far lots of good stuff in it.

I used to use roots. But I kept getting bags that had some weird fungus in it. So I stopped using it and went to happy frog and hydrotron

That's the problem I have with dirt. Every time I use some I get bugs or mold errrr. I use such small amounts that I just bake the shit in the oven before it goes into my room. And not just dirt but ewc and compost wtf. And no I don't buy the shit from stores that store it outside like Lowes or Home depot.

Im a big soil nerd. Ive learned that black gold and happy frog are excellent for starts and clones. Ive heard a lot of positive stuff about roots organic potting soil but never tried it myself. Fox farm ocean forest works better imo for larger plants than happy frog. The ph is a little high but if you feed a little low and maybe lightly amend with some ph lowering amendments and ewc you can cap it off at perfect. All i know is the ph was at 8. I was feeding with the ph at about 5 and ladies stayed healthy and beautifully green their entire lives. After running big plants in happy frog i missed the simplicity of my ffof. It was an AMAZINGLY efficient ph buffer

It seems like a much better soil amendment than to use on it's own, I'd never use straight Black Gold for my plants.

I love Root's Organic, I was using the Original for a long time but, now I'm using the 707. I mix it with Sunshine Advanced Mix #4 or Pro-Mix Professional. Using SAM #4 at the moment.

I love Root's Organic, I was using the Original for a long time but, now I'm using the 707. I mix it with Sunshine Advanced Mix #4 or Pro-Mix Professional. Using SAM #4 at the moment.

Yep I never use soil straight out of the bag. Always adjust it fer my needs.

Sorry had a comment 'fore i could say good mornin fellers.

As far as roots organics i use the outdoor mix with just a little lime for my autos so i dont have to pay much attention to them, good water retention in that mix so literally once a week watering for me autos. The photos i do special mix =) they get vegged in roots organics original with prilled dolomite because i dont "cook" my veg mix. It gets a little kelp and alfalfa and thats it for veg mix. Twice the kelp as alfalfa. I never PH in veg and water primarily with distilled water. For flower i ammend the roots organics with my mix and cook for 3-4 months.

Once soil ph is over 6.1 i will use the flower mix.

To be honest I've never checked my bag out too much and I've had the same bag for as long as I've been growing. I had my son pick it up for me and he got me this big, seriously heavy, bag of pulverized garden lime. Never figured there was any need to check it out further I guess, it's done the job just fine for me all these years so...
I am getting close to the end of that bag though, maybe another year or two, lol, when I get more I'll get some Dolomite Lime.
