yep, radiation is everywhere. i reckon fukuskima is bad. but nothin suggests it threatens life on this planet as we know it. not yet n i'm doubtful it'll ever get to that level. humans def have the capacity to totally fuck this planet if we so decided tho, n that is disturbin in its own right.

I don't want people to take me wrong, though. I'm not eating anything that comes out of the Pacific--and if this goes on long enough I'll stop eating sea creatures altogether or coastally grown veggies.

I'm not saying don't be cautious, I'm just saying measure your response against reality. If this gets progressively worse then some of these actions would be warranted simply as prophylactics. As for now I think avoiding Pacific fish (especially those fished in the Western Pacific) is probably as far as it needs to go.

I don't fuck with the lle anymore, but I'd happily smoke a blunt or bury some pillars with you. Like you said, I can be a prick when it comes to being realistic (I am a realist, to a fault at times)--but the reality is that most folks here who "hate" me would have a hard time picking me out of a circle.

My "in person" personality is quite different from that which you pick up through text on the internet. For one thing, though I do talk more than most, I don't always have a need to be heard or to have my opinion expressed in polite company. When it comes to the internet, though, there's not much to hold me back from that. A forum is, after all, a forum--but a friendly get-together is not.

Kolah, Natural, yourself, and a few others--I'm sure you'd all feel welcome in my home and would enjoy your time spent.

That's good advice. Most of the Iodine 131 that Fukishima released went into the air, though (it was gasseous).

It was mostly picked up by south moving clouds and then rained onto Japan. It spread out into the soil a few miles around the reactor. Probably a very small amount rained into the ocean. The stuff has a half life of about 8-10 days, though. There's almost no way any made it to the west coast.

Interesting views on a very serious issue. I haven't really formulated any opinions on the matter myself. For now, I'm content to sit and watch this story unfold. It is very sad thinking about how many people are suffering as a result of this. I hope it doesn't get as bad as some here think it will.

Im all for a few thousand "Volunteers" to go in knowing they wont come out. Maybe even ask for volunteers from the 3rd world. Offer to feed, educate, clothe and shelter the families of the volunteer for the next 50 year or so. See how many willing participants you get.

Callous yes, but the problem has to be solved or many more will die.

Scientific estimates predict that the radioactive plume travelling east across the Pacific will likely hit the shores of Oregon, Washington State and Canada early next year. California will probably be impacted later that year. Because the on-going flow of water from the reactor site will be virtually impossible to stop, a radioactive plume will continue to migrate across the Pacific affecting Hawaii, and North America, and eventually Europe and the rest of the Northern Hemisphere for many decades.

As reported on Rense.com, it seems the Fukushima radiation still permeating the atmosphere over the Americas – from Chile to Oregon – is reaching shocking numbers, higher than anyone is being informed. Thanks to resident ‘Greg’ on the Oregon Coast, who took his Inspector Plus Geiger counter on a trip up the coastline and measured radiation in the sky – we may see first hand what kind of radiation smog we are dealing with.

Just to give an idea, a CPM (counts per minute) reading of 100 is apparently a “MANDATORY HAZMAT Quarantine EMERGENCY in the State of California.” These readings, yesterday July 1, 2013, were off the charts ranging from 336 CPM to over 1200 CPM. “The US EPA is fully aware of this situation but does nothing to inform the flying public.”

According to the photographer “Some people were beginning to take notice of what I was doing so I refrained from taking another photograph, but I did measure 1312 CPM before losing elevation!”

These radiation readings are shockingly off the charts! Why is the public not being informed of such levels and being asked to take precautionary measures? We cannot be sure. This information is not meant to freak anyone out, only to pass along information for which conscious, wise action can be taken.

Is Fukushima Decimating Wildlife in the Western Portion of North America?
We’ve previous documented that seals, sea lions, polar bears, sea stars, turtles, sockeye salmon, herring, anchovies and sardines on the West Coast of North America are all suffering mysterious diseases … which are killing many.

We’ve asked whether this is related to massive releases of radiation from Fukushima. Update.

Sadly, we can now add other wildlife to the list.

Bald eagles are dying in Utah — 20 in the past few weeks alone — and nobody can figure out why. [...] Many suffered from seizures, head tremors and paralysis [...] Many of the eagles were brought to the mammoth Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Northern Utah [...] Within 48 hours, most were dead. [...] State wildlife specialists are baffled. For weeks, officials have sent birds for necropsies [...] At first, the agency’s disease scientists guessed the illness could be encephalitis, which is caused by the West Nile virus, but later ruled out that possibility. [...] Officials suggest the die-off is possibly connected to the deaths of thousands of eared grebes that began in Utah in November. [...] Officials still don’t know why the shore birds became sick. [...] Officials at the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center have their own theories. Some point to radiation from Japan after the 2011 meltdown at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. [...] A call from Idaho shed new light: A wildlife official said bald eagles there were also getting sick, suggesting the birds were arriving in Utah already in bad health.

Perhaps jumping to conclusions with the sea lions and krill, as it's still early days. Not looking good mind you! Especially when considering the likelihood of things improving versus declining. I would sadly be placing my money on the latter. :(
