Merit 75 not only kills gnats but it kills all pests that may be in your soil including aphids. If you have spider mites then the Merit 75 will make the population explode because it will kill the pregnant mite which will cause it to spit out all its eggs. So be prepared to hit them hard from the get go.

Em1, top dress insect frass, cover pot with xxxl pantyhose , hang fly strips and wait a month for everything to die.

@MakinGoo I had to order mine as well.
It's the easiest ,and most effective way to deal with gnats I've ever tried,and the plants like the N....
I seldom see a gnat on my sticky traps....

When you get some, PM me,and I'll hook you up on the quantity to mix into your soil,too much will burn your plants.

Neem cake is the same product,if that helps in your search efforts.

@MakinGoo I can't remember who turned me onto to this stuff ,but yeah it's very effective,and very inexpensive....

I just add it with nutes. I've never had a problem, it's solid.

Thanks buddahslave as you know with pest and illness time is crucial, so I risked it before you got to respond. Once I saw after I put it in my res it didn't change my ph I figured it wouldn't hurt them too much if any. Must say that and pyrethium fogger seems to had put the whoop on the fungus gnats. Placed yellow stickies no signs of anything so far slapped a bunch of pots no signs of anything. Sometimes you must get aggresive.

The gnats are pretty harmless. The big problem is there larva. They eat on the roots causing damage and disease which stunts the plant growth. You did the right thing getting rid of them!

Had them awhile ago didn't know what they where and didn't treat them things did cool but after what I have read about them I know my yeild could of been better if I would opened up a can of whoop ass on them. Although I know the adults aren't much of a threat I wanted to slaughter there ass too. Because if not there will be more larvae to deal with.

I use natural predators (aka nematodes)to control fungus gnat larvea in my soil.they are VERY effective.its like the flyers know theyr kids will get eaten if they lay them in the soil after applying.within a week you can barely see a gnat were you used to see loads.plus the predators are cheap.
I had em so bad my plants had practically stopped growing.all theyr vigor was gone and they were starting to show signs of deficency.within 2 weeks they were growin back to normal.aslong as u keep the medium moist theyl stay in there until they die from starvation coz theyv eaten everything in the soil.plus they dont just eat fg larvea.

I have a brand new respect for the destructive power of the fungus gnat.
Just this week I traced my sudden outbreak of botryitus to fungus gnats. I found fungus gnat carcasses in the specific spots in the buds where the gray mold had formed. I have also scoped grey mold covered fungus gnat carcasses where no mold had formed. Leading me to suspect that the fungus gnats were the carriers of the mold.

Those f#ckers caught me slipping and gave me a one two punch to the ego.

I'm fighting the Borg now Dickerson are everywhere I'm keeping my room pretty cold and it's slowing them down to the point where they gayer on my hood to get heat but are so slow and lazy I can take a rag and smush a good amount it makes me feel good knowing their last second alive is spent saying oh shit

Man bruh I never paid the Lil shit any mind thought the where just Lil harmless bugs. But now I see the effects they have been having on my grow. From here on out I will treat them with the aggression and concern I do anything else. Fuck fg's I declare war

The best and easiest thing for fungus gnats is to layer the top of your soil with earthworm castings...like 1/2 inch layer on top of the soil..works great!!! Fungus gnats lay their eggs in the top of the soil, but they don't like the worm castings..plus, when you water, the worm castings benefits the soil :)

But then yourwatering in the fg eggs too and it's the larvae that eat your fine roots leading to loss of vigor,yield etc.iv had fg bloody LOADS of times and iv tried loads of different solutions but what worked best by miles (without useing dodgey pesticides) was nematodes.specific nematodes put into the root zone with sticky yellow traps hanging above for the flying adults.iv had fg so bad they were everywhere and my veg plants stopped growing completely,my bloom plants yielded really shit there was so many.they would even get in my tea and cups of juice every time I put one down.put the nematodes in within two weeks I was struggling to find a fg and my roots and plants started growing again.i put another dose in 2 weeks after first just to be certain .iv never had anything that worked so well.they may not wipe em out coz the fliers are above soil and u can only hope they go to the sticky traps but they work amazing for me.i just give my gals em every couple of months or into a new crop and it's like the flying adults know there's danger in the soil and fuck off to lay theyr eggs else were.

I guess I should of clarified that mulching with worm castings is a great preventative, because they WON'T lay eggs in the soil or find the plants hospitable. I always mulch with worm castings after I plant :)

Try the hair dryer method to kill off the flyers.
