Buy a generator then. I mean damn man, you want us to pay your light bill for you or what? Some of the best growers and genetics in the world hang out here, so you've come to the right place for advice. You've already been told you could start with one, 100w light. If you can't afford that, then you can't afford to grow indoors. (btw, I've grown a 7' tall mother plant under a cheap, 40w led...) If it's not wholly supported by your partner, you should consider reconsidering anyways. We don't like to see no divorces around here. 👊👊

I found a 100w light cheap online. Which isn't my problem and hesitation. My hesitation is because of the corporate pig in all seriousness. Which id imagine if you read back in the replies youll see what im talking about.

She dont mind my use to help with my ptsd but blatently told me she wont support a habitat. Bills included. At least if I can get a setup thatll only increase that bill a few bucks in a month its easy to justify. But in the end im honestly dipping my toes in the water and picking brains to see if it can be done. I've had intentions from the start of growing outdoors and using the natural elements. But im just giddy with excitement to start a journey like this especially since the last time I used was before ptsd and before it was legal in my state along with never having the chance to til now.

But I wasn't trolling. You believe I was when I was trying to see what can be done on a tight budget to keep mama happy.

We are always excited to see people excited about growing. I can tell you without a doubt that indoor growing is very addictive. And if you get started, you'll be hooked like the rest of us are around here. Short of putting in a shitload of solar though, you gotta pay the commies... no way around it that I know of. And btw... most of us cry when we pay our electric; there is no shame in crying when you're being raped. 😖

btw, I read the whole thread before commenting. I tend to be a bit blunt is all, I meant no offense. You have to understand that we get our fair share of trolls here, and when you keep saying "but, but, but, etc....", it sounds like trolling.

And thats why I was curious if it could be done. If i was told from the start it can't be done period then i woulda left it the way it laid. Or with a reply of this is what it cost me on a budget and this is what it cost me with the expensive setup. Then id have something personally to mill over. I had a feeling its a monster mountain to climb over and I get and respect that. Just trying to figure out my own way. Being on a tight budget that is. Im already gathering supplies for the spring as it is. Im doing 5 gallon pickle bucket grows in the spring so at night i go out to my garage. Listen to tunes, indulge and prep and think about spring setup. Like when to germinate and when to harden and when to move outside. Plant placement(state law states they have to be out of view of the general public when grown outdoors). Didn't intend on poking a proverbial bear. Simply a curious mind to see what can be done especially when it comes to folks on a budget for one reason or another. I think I have a preliminary plan started for spring which is adding to my excitement and doesn't help lol. Im lucky enough an old friend is willing to coach and teach in person. He's said hes no pro but gets by. Based on his harvest last year if I follow his lead ill have enough to last me well over a year. But he has 8 girls and im only doing 4.

So get yourself a 100w light, build your insulboard box and your off to the races... If after a month you decide it's to costly, then give it up. Don't worry about low temps, as long as it's above freezing they'll grow; albeit a bit slow. Get a good indica and they'll eat up some cool temps.

I'm in Cali, other than Hawaii we've got some of the highest electricty costs, on par with New York. I run a 7x7x7 tent with 900 watts, costs about $60/month. I do adjust my lighting times to take advantage of lower rates in non-peak hours.

Now i have a new question on those lights lol do those 100w kick off a lot of heat which could offset a cooler basement in an insulated homemade box?

What about ventilation? I see ppl with like $300+ vent systems and wonder if it's necessary. Or is the vent system predominantly for smell abatement.

Thank you for this response this was something I was hoping for...now it's just a question on what corporate pig nyseg will try to do.

Also, don't give up, before giving at least something a try. I'm a cancer survivor on ssi, it took me 1.5 yrs to get going again after many years off. I had to just buy a little at a time each months until I had my (preferred) setup complete. I could have started sooner with less, but ima hard-head.

There are several NY growers here that will probably be happy to share their experiences with you... @Mikedin @ChairmanFester are the 1st two that come to mind. Mike grows both indoors and out & I believe chairman dabbles in both as well

Fester and I talked quite a bit yesterday. Seems like a great guy. I can be hard headed too and my wife hates it to a degree because once I latch onto something I tend to not let go( sometimes good sometime bad). Like I said before im just giddy with excitement...and I was ready for winter to be over in September and we still had unseasonably warm temps then! Haha. Tried getting the Mrs to leave ny when we got together 10 years ago.... we're still here. Ive been over being in a place where the air hurts your face 6 months out of the year just for stepping outside and walking through 4 foot deep snow drifts....and crippling state taxes to cover up their mismanagment of tax payer dollars

I'm soil, indoor, and sort of half microbially friendly, not like all in living soil. I might do outdoor next season, idk, I'm like loose man. Free. Like a Gunfighter in the west, except in NY and I hate country music.
But also I play with radiation a lot and drug the local wildlife so am I exactly the voice of wisdom?

You know what? Just do it. Rip a bong and fuckin send it. I had no plan to clone, have never cloned, read like 4 growing books so far and skipped all the cloning stuff, no root stuff, no foam block or whatever, no plan...
Day 6 and they haven't died. I looked at a couple pictures and ripped a bong. It might've worked.

Bro I stared growing for less than $100 at the start and had my first harvest sold it and bought my setup $35 eBay 100w LED light junk fan I had laying around the house and some mylar emergency blankets from Walmart $4 some seeds from a buddy and some cheap general hydroponics floranova grow nutrients n ur off and running oh and a $10 bag of promix from Walmart the yellow bag organic gardening mix is what it's called u can be going for a out $70 tbh bro and electric nah man LEDs cost like 5-10 a month to run if that
