Wondering if anybody has a good idea for getting carbon filters up to the ceiling. I'm dreading do this. I've always left em on the floor in the past but space is getting kind of tight

I'm kind of just leaning toward hot water straps and muscling them up there but it doesn't sound fun in a room full of plants

At home depot they have bungi cords made of rubber for $2.49 each when paired with washers you could screw them directly to the ceiling and you have no vibrations on the structure. There will be some damage to the textured cottage cheese style ceilings where the screw is but not a whole lot, I've repaired it before with the aerosol roof texture in a can. If the stud isn't lining up and you install a 2x4 that does damage cottage cheese ceilings texture by flattening the texture in that area but again just needs to be repaired if you sell/move. On my fans I use the bungi hooks through the bracket so I can move them and condense my room size toward the end of winter.

Edit: Forgot to mention for the filter itself I use a drywall screw into the stud then 2 zip ties to create a loop for tying to. 1 zip tie through the other.. While one zip tie tightens onto the screw & second zip tie holding it in place the other zip tie remains the open loop. Pretty easy hanging.

Ive used self tapping sheet metal screws to attach the fan directly to the carbon filter. Works well with centrifugal fans, not so much with others. Have to make sure the screws don't catch any moving parts, etc.

Screw some hooks into the studs or the board mounted between studs, then hang a chain or bungee cords like @MeJuana suggested (nice tip, btw) and you can heft up the filter/fan and loop the chain/cord around where the fan connects to the filter. That'll leave you with a free hand to lift up the other side and attach it.

Muscles and a buddy.... lol, 2x between rafters then plumbing strapping around the 2x and the filter.

Depends on size and what your fastening too post a pic of the ceiling or place u want to hang it

I use 3 or 4 milk crates. I secure each milk crate to each other with 4 zip ties per milk crate. Frees up alot of space, but still utilizes space.

Another option is to use heavy duty rope ratchets. I use the 150 lb ones for my heavy ass hoods, secure proper hooks from ceiling joists, then string them.up.
