Greedings to all.
After a long time growing in soil mix first outdoors and then indoors, I decided to try my hand in hydroponics and sinse a fair amount of mistakes are to be expected I thought I should do a diary of sorts so that other people might save some of their time by not repeating them. Of course opinions are welcome. Knowledge even more so.

Method of choice is the aquafarm pot. A plant grows roots in a 10ish gallon pot of clay pebbles sitting atop of another pot which holds 5 gal of nutrient solution that is circulating through an air pump that also aerates the liquid. Aerated solution comes to the top and drips on the pebbles through a hollow ring with holes all around. The pebbles are saturated and the liquid returns to the lower tank through holes drilled to the upper one and the procedure repeats itself for as long as the air pump is on.

Strain of choice a purple ayahuasca from barneys farm that I had laying around in my fridge.

Lamp of choice is the P2000 250 watt full spectrum LED from vipar spectra wich I have been using for quite some time now. Some would say that it is not really suitable for flowering but I think it does the trick.

Fertilizers and chems from GH. Tri part system that I have been using for years on my soil mix, plus a PH down solution and testing kit. Also an EC meter which is of great valye to cultivators of any kind.

So a couple of sundays ago I germinated my seed in a block of rockwool that I had soaking in acid solution untill its residual water show a PH of 6 and a couple of days later when roots started sprouting from the rockwool I transferred the whole cube in the pot after I rinsed the pebbles in an acidic solution per instructions and conditiond my water and nutrient solution to PH 5.5 and there we go....

Day 2 and the plant shows signs of mismanagement. PH was climbing to over 7 in a matter of hours so after some helpfull info from 2 other forum members I took the cube off and did a proper conditioning of the hydroton pebbles. 24 hour acid bath rinsing and drying and back in buisness.

Day 3 and discovered that the discoloration on the leaves is actually a nutrient burn. My EC was too high because Im too proud to admit I cant read without glasses. So I rectified the solution actually after the valuable input of other forum members(thank you mr jadin) and also decided to not run the air pump 24/7 because the leaves are constantly wet and I dont think I need it at this stage.

1st week and we grow. PH is rising every 36 hours I would say so I add about 10 ml of GH ph conditioner and it goes down to 5.5-6 and one and half day later is about 7.5 but I dont complain as it is manageable. EC is 5.05. and going very slowly down not surprisingly since at this stage she doesnt eat much. Temp is 70F with lights on 65F when off. I also put the lights at half power. Pump runs 30 min on 60 min off while lights on and off when lights off. Let us see how that goes.

Do you keep a journal? Why dont you upload some pics? We should compare sizes.... What is your programmes, what food do you use. temps, chems, etc. Check my other thread for a more comprehensive look. I would really like your input.
