gray color kinda looks like dirt on the roots

im new to grownin.... so help me out! im growing hydro. and the roots in the water are starting to get this gray stuff on them. ill post pics up later to help but seein if maybe someone knew what might be wrong.... not all the roots have this gray stuff on them kinda looks like mold or dirt..... maybe chem. burn? i dk but the leafs on the lower part of the plant are drying up and turning yellow and brown.... another thing that might help is that there was an air stone in the water to help oxy. get to the roots... but started to grow like mold or fungus on it so took it out... maybe mold or something growing in the water? if anybody know what im talking about let me know!!!!! ill post pics up soon....

Pics will really help... a lot.

Some add's leave a film on roots. Some mold/bacteria can grow on them too... both good & bad. Black/grey "sounds" bad though. Pics brother! Peace.

Do you change your rez. regularly? It sound like mold and if you had a moldy airstone then that is probably what it is. Lollipop is right with the HP though.

^ theres my set up npothing fancey.... im doing the flood and drain system.

another thing that might help is that i have 2 baby plants that havent been affected in anyway they are doing fine. all the older plants are the ones with the light yellow and some brown.... they are about 3 1/2 weeks old.

any idea whats wrong? i left the ph at 6.3 to high? the room temp is about 75 80 prob a lil to high huh? i got fans runin to cool the air in the room. well i think i gVe all the info on what im doin so please help.

the roots look like the start of root rot, get you some hydrogen peroxide, just put 1/2 teaspoon per gallon, in a couple of days you will be good...

for future reference you should monitor your nutrient solutions temperature to avoid root rot. It's caused by the root zone getting too warm, and not changing your reservoir solution enough.

they look fine, havent gottin worse. lookin at the pictures of root rot and chem. burn, i think it was more chem. burn in the roots then root rot. thanks for all your help! will post pics as they grow.
