I was researching if a rigid smooth pipe would be quieter than using normal or acoustic ducting and found the info below.

Would be great if anyone is using a smooth pipe for extraction and can highlight the pros and cons and if it does reduce noise albeit that it needs some modification.

Smooth pipe may help but it will make some noise. I used insulated ducting which cut the external noise completely but the sound of air exiting the pipe/vent is still there. I've seen duct silencers but never had the need to check them out.
