Has any one in the Portland area been? I went this Saturday to check it out and met a real nice couple from AZ.
So this was my take on the place.......
the place felt a little like a strip club (minus the nakedness) in atmosphere, the music was good, the television is huge and the pool table is in good shape.
I brought some of my first harvest to share. I sat at a table, put my meds and pipe on the table and began to share....til the "grower of the day" got offended by my herb and put a stop to it. To be the grower of the day you need to work out something with the owner and you get to set up a table and collect "donations" for your meds that you "give" to people in The Green Exchange room around back. The guy thought I was "stepping on his toes" and went and told security to come check me out....they let me know he paid for the privilege to be there and I "appeared" to be conducting business.
Turned out, my stuff was the best they had seen in a while and every one wanted my ware although I was not promoting there and even in the medical community, the guy got all DRUG DEALER and turned me in to the on site security so he could collect donations....lame ass :sign0055: i say.
otherwise place was great and will go back....just not on Saturday

Never been there myself but from the few people I know who have, they definitely didn't like the vibe they got and they said the meds there were pretty awful.

If I'm ever looking for a little variety, Cannabliss or Collective Awakenings usually have a couple good things to choose from.

I haven't been there either. So I can't comment on the service. But I do think that it was kinda harsh to call the house grower a Drug Dealer. For one thing, they aren't breaking any laws if they receive donations and give out medicine. What would make it illegal is if the lingo used to describe the transaction included words like "Buy" and "Sell". The whole thing is similar to donating "Blood" or "Plasma" in Oregon. While "Selling" your body for money in Oregon is illegal, "Donating" your body for money (in this case blood, plasma, or even sprem) is perfectly legal.

This whole separation between medical and recreational use is bullshit. ALL MARIJUANA USE IS MEDICAL USE whether it is used to prevent future ailments, relax your mind and body at the end of a long day, or to treat a serious ailment. The only people who really think otherwise is the very same government that outlawed marijuana in the first place.

I do have a patient card because of severe pain in my ankle and wrist due to my ongoing battle with gout. And when I smoke to relieve my pain, it's obvious that it's for medical use. But what about the times when I don't have any pain and I just smoke to get high? If I wasn't suffering any pain and I still smoked, it would still medically help me to relax and relieve some stress. It would also medically help me prevent future ailments like lung cancer caused by my habit of cigarette smoking. Do you kinda see where I'm getting at? There is no real difference between medical use and recreational use (besides the law... which was wrong to begin with).

Look at it this way, if I let my 64 year old dad try cannabis for the first time in his life (to see if he likes it better than his prescription meds) does that make him a criminal? I don't think that it would. And it wouldn't be fair to call him (a man with absolutely no criminal history at all) a Criminal just because he was curious about trying a healthier alternative medicine. The same way that it isn't fair to call a grower a Drug Dealer for legally recovering costs used to grow medicine.

In my opinion it is not the growers who are trying to recover costs from the grow who are the problem. It is the patients who think that they are gods now that they have medical cards who are fucking up the program. You know, the ones that think that they are so above everyone else that they expect an unreasonable amount of medicine every month (AND FOR FREE TOO). They are the ones that are causing more and more growers to go black market or ship out of state, because patients aren't paying for the cost to grow their own medicine. And the growers are left with nothing in the end but overdue bills and eviction notices (not even any medicine to smoke the stress away). I've had a few patients like that over the years. Makes me wanna say, "Bitch!! I'm a patient too. And I actually have pain unlike your punk ass!! But I'm stuck here spending every single dollar and free second I have taking care of plants that I don't even get to enjoy all because your too fucking lazy or stupid to grow your own damn shit!!"

Patients who think they are above others and entitled to free pot can fuck off. You pay a fucking annual fee for your card, you aren't any more special than any other cannabis user out there. And nobody owes you shit.

Sorry for ranting. I just get rubbed the wrong way when I hear people say, "Oh I'm medical..." or if they call growers "Drug Dealers" for being reimbursed for the grow. All that nonsense just pushes the movement backwards. As long as the 2 groups (medical and recreational) are separated, we will never legalize cannabis. The day that cannabis becomes legal is the day that healthy people who do not smoke cannabis start using it for its healing and preventative properties just like the patients do.

i went there once, didnt like how it was set up- you have to donate before even seeing anything and they only take donations in 25 dollar increments ( i have heard of one person who wanted their money back cause they didnt see any meds they wanted and they told them no its a donation) so my first and last time goin in i just did the minimum 25 donation to see what they have, their was one grower with 2 strains i picked one and went home, started breaking up a nug and found a bunch of bug shit, and this guy was going by Oregons finest lol i dont think so

I used to really like cannabliss, till the owner left to start a club in arizona and left his club in the hands of immature assholes. i like collective awakings no door fee and they usually have something tasty

Really, so that's what happened? I had no idea that they just up and left to go start a place elsewhere. Yeah, things have definitely changed a bit since they opened up last year at Cannabliss.

After you make the $25 donation, how much medicine do you get?
I was told you could sample for free before you make a donation. I went to the spot Tuesday (02-21-12) but I got a bad vibe so i did not go in.
I was turned on to the place by the doctor that signed my MMcard.

Donation of $8-$10 is required for a gram.Donation for 1/2 0z $130 and oz $250.
Have not had time to sample yet.

Club Sky High in St Johns Portland is pretty awesome.. no door fee, free dabs, free joints. Reasonable donations and they have a nice lounge.
