Plastic or shade cloth live in Australia and it gets bloody hot' I get 10 hours of sun 9 am till 7 pm! They're growing in soil

Think it depends on how hot the high temp. As well as how much of a pest problem you might have. If you have a lot or need cover from others looking in on your garden.

Do you have good circulation and exhausting for heat disapation?

If you get above 80-85 F(29 C) I would say just the shade cloth prob. If you don't then you might be able to get away with both. And that way if you get really cool at night you've got some heat trapped in.

I'm still learning so i would wait and see what others have to say as well.

What are your nightly lows?

We had some really hot temps here in CO this year and I feel like it stunted the growth of my plants in my greenhouse.

Also with 10 hours of sun you may have to do some supplemental lighting so they don't switch to flowering. If it's 10 hours of direct sunlight and indirect on either side you might be alright. Just a thought.
