Hey mate, just catching up on the fires you are dealing with! Hope you can stay safe, I can only imagine the stress it must cause of not knowing if it’s coming your way.

Glad to see you’ve got your next grow started. I’m intrigued by the GDL, does it get its name due to its smell? Because if it’s weed that smells like lavender I’d be all over that!

@SpursGrower !!! I totally forgot you are doing something similar with using a separate space but still connected to fans and what not! How’s that working for you!? Were you able to get it dialed?
Yeah mate I’m chuffed to bits with how it’s working. If anything it’s working too well as I took it out after 14 days and jarred it but now I don’t think it was dry enough 😫

I’ve got it so all air for my small grow area is passively pulled through the drying area with the drying buds directly in the air stream. If it gets too hot outside I put a 5 litre jug of frozen water in front of the intake holes and it cools the airflow by 5-10 degrees Celsius.

Pictured is a drawing of what im considering doing? My other thought was to build a totally separate spot within the room and have the ac just pump some air into it? That would be I think a little more like @SpursGrower

What works for me is a concept I call “air exchange but not air movement”, somebody has a name for it I’m sure.
All it means no fans really. My drier has a vent top and bottom, I duct the top vent to my flower chamber which does have an exhaust fan returning to the lung where my drier sits. I want fresh air but not blowing on them. Slow dry if you will

Again, this is just what works for me. And please, feel free to ask me questions, all I can do is share how I do it

Likewise, I think mine sounds like the same idea just on a smaller scale

Thanks so much! Yeah we’re way safe as of now! Never really weren’t but the potential was absolutely there! It’s beyond stressful man! At one point we almost left and my project was just in the room🤷🏼‍♂️ it was making me sick to my stomach!

It’s a cross between Grandaddy Purple and purple lavender? Or just lavender 🤷🏼‍♂️ im really excited to get that stuff going! : ) I’ll definitely get you a full review of end product!

Aw man sorry to hear that! So it just needed to be dried for a bit longer in your cabinet? Hopefully you are able to get a little curing smell and what not : )

This is it JJ 😀 which leads me to this next question.

Serious question : ) I could run two ac units right? one in my flower room that would keep the room at my desired temp along with being attached to the drying cabinet and from there venting out in to the veg room. Then a veg room ac window unit just to keep things from really over heating (I’ll take a warmer veg room). Is this just total lunacy or am I on to something? Im overly stressed at the moment and as usual over thinking and trying to make a simple project as in-depth and complicated as possible 😂 thanks for the pics and info! Always greatly appreciated! 🙏

It’s not my nicest and I apologize for that : ) here’s a drawing of what im thinking. And I could make it work with just one AC in the flower room! 🤷🏼‍♂️ thanks for checking it out! : )

love them drawings 🤣
and people's projects too
and humidity? if you will keep your flower in 45-50 that's too low to suck into drying area no?
unless if in drying area you will control to keep it up on 60
from drying to veg perfect- will raise humidity for youngsters and give them sniff of adulthood 🤣
look at you lol full barn management

greets 🙃

hey Sun! Yeah that humidity low of RH is definitely not what im shooting for, wanting it closer to the 60% like you said : )

yeah that building is going to make things interesting for a minute! I had a plan to start on today and that fell through so I came up with plan B. I need to get out in the shed to check on the girls, my gut says keep them going for another little bit(I also feel that’s just kinda the fine tune at the end) which isn’t necessary at this point to me lol but everything else is saying cut them! 🤷🏼‍♂️ im headed out there in a few, to assess the situation : ) later!✌️

always go with your gut ✌️
later

I’m in the same boat @BearWater I had one of my two inside girls full of aphids I sprayed and cleaned and brought her back in and the next day still had them so now she’s outside looking half dead but I’m not giving up on her yet at the worst she will become a lab experiment maybe I can get her back but she is drooping and sad for sure plus fan leaves turning up and weird but I just hope I can kill these little bastard I cut a few branches off they were a total big mess she will for
Sure
Struggle because our temps here will be in 100 this week . This pic is right after I sprayed her with alcohol n water mix first time I ever did that scared me to death

that dunk I did, I think held them for a bit. They were starting to spread so I made the decision to chop! I dunked the branches that had visible damage (all that bud will get used for something like butter or something). Now im hoping the 60* temp will stifle them for the drying period 🤷🏼‍♂️.

Yeah messing with your plants in an unknown way is definitely unnerving 😁, but it helps know you can do a science project with it if you need to : )

Alright then! Made the decision to chop. Got high enough off the buds I smoked earlier and didnt want to risk any more pest damage and worry about treating it with how much time was left🤷🏼‍♂️ (lots of other factors also)😂

So anyways its lights off for now, AC is cranked to 62 and I watered all the empty pots one last time to try and bump that RH up : )

Im going to grab some stuff later to try and make a temporary dark dry room so I can work on the rest of the room. Thanks all for fallowing along! Full smoke reports and and all that to come. This is my thread that’ll will go for the next run also! As it’s still all very low budget mission impossible!!!♥️✌️

Thanks to all who helped along the way! Could not have done it with out all your knowledge and tips and tricks and suggestions and harassment (im looking at you chuck on that last one!) 😂 now the fat lady has not sung! It is still very much a touch and go situation (mold and fungus and pests in the drying stage). Again thank you guys for all your help! Hugs to you all and knuckles or high fives if you’re not a hugger😂♥️🤗🙌🧊😀🙏👊

This is after the dehumidifier running for a minute. Not thrilled with the temp but like this entire run has been, “whatever” lol! ✌️View attachment 2231506
In my opinion, that’s close enough! It doesn’t have to be exact! I can’t get above 50% humidity when I do it and it comes out OK! Just want to keep an eye on it and don’t overdry it!
