What's the reason it has to be in a bucket? Why not just transplant it into the ground?

Maybe its to hard to dig where he wants to plant!

Grow a pair and get a shovel, a pick or a new spot. :evilgrin0040:

If a pot outdoors is needed check with a nursery for one of the large wood pots used for trees. Sometimes they have extra ones or ones that need repair. These are generally used several times by garden centers. Or think about a raised bed.

An outdoor plant will be root bound in 5 gal pots pretty fast.

Definitely would go with the raised bed, you can build the side walls up as high as you want or you can keep them shallower and dig out deeper, your plants roots will go down 5ft. plus. That is if the plant is going to be on your property so that you can re-use the bed. Shit soil = shit weed, so if it is too hard to dig out then backfill with good stuff.
