No, they bushed out. Pushed out them huge fan leaves. It also seemed to speed up my topping recovery. Again, this might all be in my head. But I swear it did. Maybe I should time next time. Red light is what encourages stretching.By they exploded you mean they stretched more? Because thats not desirable and thats precisely why I use full spectrum, so they dont get as tall and they get more bushy. That said if you like tall plants there's nothing wrong with it but using just blue is gonna make them stretch more, meaning the lower buds will get less light. Ive already been through blues, reds and even pink and theyre long packed inside a box but thats just my experience.
Red light doesnt encourage stretching, is the lack of blue and other colors in the spectrum that encourages stretching. Red light encourages robust growth and flowering. With cool white you have more blue than red for veg and with warm white reinforced with red you have more red than blue, but you want both in both stages, and you also want cyan, red and yellow, which blue and red leds alone dont have. No, they bushed out. "extra lighting at wavelengths the plant had absolutely no need for" I beg to disagree, its proven that plants use all colors in the spectrum from 400 to 700nm as they should because theyre plants and thats what the sun gives them so thats what they use. I also linked an article which leads to another article on why green light is imporant contrary to what was thought.
Hm I get what you mean but no, I think the only thing cheaper is the panel itself as theyre way cheaper than full spectrum. I mean yes you will need slightly less wattage if you use only blue because blue and red are the 2 essential colors but I dont think its worth it as to what youre saving compared to what youre losing in performance. Bluerples gave me more stretched plants, always, more internodal space and less bushyness than full spectrum, thats why I dont use them anymore and almost nobody does as you can see in the forum. The usual LED brands for weed wont sell you a blurple either. That said if you have a full spectrum and you wanna add some blue because your panel lacks some blue for veg and then you wanna reinforce with more red diodes in flower thats not a bad idea but without losing the full spectrum from whites.Well maybe I need to go do some more research because the way I've heard it is yeah they use light in that full range of wavelengths but not at the same levels through all growth stages. So, being the penny pinching sumbtch I am, I took that to heart that making lights to accommodate variables in your settings wasn't done to make your dope more killer, but rather to allow you to grow good dope without burning up a bunch of electricity you don't really have to. Silly me I guess.
Oh yes, brain food! Thank you I will definetely check it out! He’s got a lot more on light also! If you want to get into the egghead, aspect of it!View attachment 2388661
