i want to design a 240v 30 amp circuit for a room i have because the house is wired with 15 amp 120/240v outlets.i want to know if i can put 2 1000w lights 8.4 amp total,T5 grow light .5 amp,2 inline fans 2 amps total and 2 ventilation fans 5 amps total on this new circuitt i want to build.so i have a total of 15.9 amps/16 amps on this circuit.is it safe to run all these appliances on the circuit without worries since it would be a 30 amp rated?

peace and thanks

Well that might work if all your equipment is rated for 240 since they use half the amps as a 120 but usefully only ballasts come in 120/240 versions as I haven't seen or used too many fans and t5 rated for 240...... However are you planning on using a powerbox type control panel that takes 240 and provides 6 120v outlets?? I tend to place lights on one circuit and fans on the other as I hate to tax breakers and tend to play it safe

Theoretically using the 80% rule you can run 24 amps safely off a 30 amp breaker but like dutch ive never seen 240v fans and only a couple t5s rated for 240v.I would split the circuit if you have room in the panel so you have 1 15a 240 breaker and 1 15a 120 breaker,If thats not possible like dutch says powerbox makes some controllers that have 240 and 120 plugs on them with just 240 running in but you are limited by 30 amps to the dpc7400 which has 4 240v and 2 120v plugs.

thanks guys and yes the fact that i havent seen much fans or t5's that run on 24ov.since we want everything to run on the same voltage can a 120v 30 am breaker be used instead of a 240v?
