I am going to bloom using a tent. I've been struggling on how to go about this. I only have just under 750 to use. I was going to build area burnot the greatest person with a hammer lol. So i have made a decision on what i want loosely. I would want 600 watt hps, probably 4x4x7 since its a 600. Thats where im at. I did go through many sites looking at complete grow tent kits and found one for about the cash i have. I also added best prices from various sites to make my own and it seems a shit ton cheaper. I guess im asking should i just grab the kit? It has a lot of extras plus everything needed for a grow. Or should i assemble my own? If the latter sounds better(which i think but im a tightass) then what else do i need in there? I have so far included tent itself, 6" 440cfm fan/filter combo, 600 watt hps, 2 6" clip on fans. Anything else? I have hangers and hygrometer and such. Thanks for any help given

Good luck to ya burn, my man. Maybe consider the 5x5 in case you want more room later down the road. Might even be able to fit a double 6oo in a 5x5..mwuhahahaha. :hungry:

I dont see me going any bigger. Just meds for my brother and i. Thanks though. Light coverage is 4x4 on a 600 isnt it? Although 5x5 if not too much more would give me room to stretch out 4 big plants. Ahhh here i go again second guessing lol

It's just the way I think bro. Stoner girlfriends and making medibles might put a dent in your surplus..lol. I bet you could get a 6 to spread out to a 5x5..but it will still yield the same. Get what makes you happy and what's in your budget.

Do a lot of research on here and build your own set up. The kits I have seen use some questionable quality for tents and other things in the kit (reflector, lights, etc.) you need. Like Natural said, go with the bigger tent; it's good to have some room to move around a little. A 4x4 can get crowded in a hurry. Starting with a good quality soil might be less complicated than coco or hydro to begin. I love the results from organic soil. The tent you choose is super important, light leaks will cause a lot of problems. Read the reviews and ask around. Gorilla tents seems to be pretty good. I did not like Superhut Silver tent. Have fun, it's a great hobby :)

yes, a 600 watt will cover 4x4 nicely. 1000 watt in a 4x4 might get too hot depending on your ambient room temperature..

Looks like you've got the basics. Some yellow sticky pest cards and a thermometer. Even with soil; get a pH kit and keep things around 6 pH. You will need 6" ducting for you fan and filter. Get some metal tape to seal things. Secret Jardin (I think) and read reviews that people seem to like them.

I've rockin three Secret Jardin DR Pro Tents atm.
Love Them!

Just be sure to buy some Black Gorilla tape to cover up any possible pin holes that may be present in the tent.
Gorilla Tape is super light proof and has saved the day more then once for me.

If there's anything at all you'd like to know, don't hesitate!
I'll do my best to answer.

Oh, and if ya want a link where I got my tents let me know.
They have free (discrete) shipping and if you mention my name they'll give ya an extra 10% off. :)

I use an agromax 4*4*7. From htg. I've used others (cheaper) as well. Have no complaints. Has plenty if passive vents as well as ports for ducting. I've used an eBay cheapo and did just as well. Just make sure there is no off gassing. At this point though that prolly isn't an issue anymore. I wouldn't buy a package though. End up paying more. Imo. You can piece a decent ballast and hood or cool tube for less than 200 bucks and a tent like mine or any of the other brothers for about the same. I've seen 600watt packages for over 5 hundred bucks. Just one man's opinion but no reason to over spend bro! Good luck!

The reason I ask, is because there is a HUGE difference between the Secret Jardin "Dark Streets", "Dark Rooms" and the "Dark Room Pros"….

I originally bought the DS and they were crap. pin holes everywhere and the zippers were stitched really crappy as well.
The Pros are the way to go if you decide to go the S.J. route.

high man, here's a few pics of my Secret Jardin with a single, barebulb 600HPS, vertical style where you can see the light and the fan/scrubber combo, i'm using an 8" Vortex Sline with a speed controller with the fan turned down to about half power. ...a 6" CanFan MaxFan would also do the job just fine or even a cheaper model 6" fan would probably work ok too.

...note the 2 fans, 1 on either side blowing down at my plants at an angle, there is a third identical fan below the bulb and blowing straight up, these fans were all from Walmart and ran $17.00 each.

...note also that i've installed a common light socket into which i have installed a green CFL, i like to do my watering about 15 minutes before lights on so i use the green light to see what i'm doing.

so the tent =
Secret Jardin Darkroom II Pro DR120 48"x48"x80"
= $219.95

exhaust fan =
Vortex S-Line Ultra Quiet Fan 8" 728 CFM
= $185.00

speed controller =
SE Electronic Stepless Speed Controller
= $22.46

...and then when you add in the three circulation fans for $17.00 each that's roughly another $60.00 and that leaves you close to $300.00 from your budget for the scrubber and the ballast and socket set and bulb.

your $750.00 budget should be sufficient for you to buy quality components like this rather than you being forced to cheap out which is what you'd be doing with one of those 'kits' which will comtain mosly bottom of the line equipment and much of it will be useless.

...btw, these links are to Amazon just to make it easy, if you do some research you may find better sources, especially a local source and don't be afraid to ask for a discount, the worst they can do is say no and i'd bet dollars to donuts they will very quickly agree to 10% off, be persistent and you may get more.

peace, bozo
