Growing mother plant from seed

Hi, i was hoping someone out they may have the answer to this question.... if i want to grow a mother plant from seed i have, not feminized, is it just a matter of germinating seeds, growing the plants and keeping them in veg till time to take clones--- or should the plants be sexed, males removed, remaining females reveged to clone--- or is the sexing of prospective mothers unnecessary as the plants is staying in veg and is not exposed to a opportunity to sex its self??? heres a plant tax pic from last season, from seed. Not sure if strain, could be trainwreck
