I think his switch to living soil,, GG Soil and EWC is pure sponsorship. And please,,, don't get me wrong I'm not some big Canucks grow fan. I like most watched one of his videos here and there and always thought to myself that's nice,,, maybe one day I will do that. With the big "BUT" in the back of my mind thinking, "This ain't right". What's the saucery and trickery in these grows of his off cam. This is not suppose to work like this. I would have enjoyed having a Coco & GG grow thirty years ago. With my career being so demanding of my time, mind and body it would have been a blessing. I was backed into a corner. The last 10/12 years of my career I did Ocean Forrest and Bloom City dry ferts just for the simplicity and a constant supply of smoke as I worked my ass off to get to retirement and could wag finger walking away. If I had the space I would be hydro growing. So why not Coco and GG without all the common pain in the ass busy work most Coco grows require. With many of the benefits one see's in a Coco grow and easy as can be. I've got a 27 gal tote packed full of fresh Ocean Forrest which could be turned into living soil and all that fanfare,,, but why? I've not seen one reason to continue on with soil of any type and GG. Got a plant in OF/GG and Coco/GG right now and the Coco/GG is the better grow. I guess I could do a grow off. Have plenty of seed, Rain Science bags, a 2x4 and 3x3 with the same class of lights, and environmental setup. In reality the only difference between the two grows would be the grow media and pheno types. Can do fem photos, auto's or reg. seeds. I keep waiting for my buddy on a strain hunt to see what he ships me. It's going to be sooooooo nice to have real weed again and get rid of all this fufu hybrid shit weed.

again, don't know my left hand from right but would not one very good reason the coco grow would do better is because it allows for more frequent fertigation? Coco can dry back way faster than soil which would allow you to provide the plant what it wants, when it wants it, and faster?

Thanks for this Wiz. That was the 1st time I top dressed with GG and holy shit. When I was "trying" to carefully portion 1.25c out I rapidly created some sort of Iraqi sand storm in my kitchen. Wear mask next time, check

This is why I don't want to use rockwool, I hear its basically like asbestos when inhaled. This is also why I dont use perlite, it rises to the surface of the pot, dries out, and sticks to your buds when the wind kicks it into the nice air-circulation we've all created. Currently I just use 100% coco, but Im considering using rice hulls next run for better drainage, though rice hulls are dusty af too and require a mask when handling.

@Zombierider @PerfecTrader @Shaded_One on the subject of dust, perlite dust, and dry amendments on plants would it be beneficial to do bud washing after harvest?

I don't know all the ins and outs. One interesting thing I'm seeing is the coco break down. It's turning to a soil like material before my eyes. Or it just might be a low grade of coco from Fox Farms. Or it could be the Gaia Green, Recharge, DE, Power SI. I fed Gaia Green today. I always take a blade of some sort to the top soil in the pot and slice it up so I can completely break up the top 2" or so and have a good bed to mix the Gaia Green into. And the coco is getting just like the Ocean Forrest used in the other grow.

Not for me. Bud washing is mpre for outdoor growers imo. I haven't had any reason to even consider it. I've read a lot about it but it is for sure an extra step I will avoid at all costs

For plants grown indoors?? I'd never considered it but definitely possible if you're getting a build up of stuff on your buds

To help reduce the "dust" I usually mix the amendments into some semi most soil in a smaller container. I'll then take that soil/amendment mix and top dress. Then you get no Darude - Sandstorm

Hey I’m enjoying this thread and couldn’t help but notice that you grow in coco w/ GG. I’m in the middle of my second grow using FF 70/30 coco, GG, and a few other dry organics. I honestly never thought I’d be able to grow plants as healthy and vibrant as these have been but I know they pale in comparison to some.
Last run I moved from 1 gal to 5 gal and finished out 3 nice plants. My space was a little tight (it’s a 2’x6’x8’ closet) with all 3, so this time I’m only growing 2.
I thought I wanted to use bigger pots, so I transplanted the first plant into a 7 gal plastic “air pot “, which I think is the name. They have the pointy sides with holes in every little point……anyway, the circumference is the same w/ the 5 and 7, which means the 7 has a lot of space below. Once I got the first plant moved I chickened out on the 2nd plant and used a 5gal.
The one aspect of this grow that I cannot figure out with 100% certainty is the watering. The last run I treated things more like a soil grow. I’d let the pot get fairly dry first. Then I would painstakingly water super slow. I’d use a spray bottle and get the top saturated, then very slowly water the outer edges. I’d wait at least 15-20 min between passes.
Once I was satisfied with the outer 1-2” I would then water the bulk of the surface, stopping about a 1.5”-2” from the base of the stem. All in all it would take me damn near 2 hours to do it…..which sucked but I’d be doing other things at the same time.
I could get over 1.5 gal of water in that 5 gal pot before there was any sign of runoff.
At the first sign of runoff, I’d stop.
I’d usually end up watering in this manner every third day.
Now I have this one plant in the 7 gal and it’s gonna take forever to dry out compared to the 5’s.
So I’m rethinking the whole watering plan.
Can you give any advice or suggestions?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but wouldn’t you want the medium to stay moist 100% of the time?
Perhaps I should be watering more frequently but with less amounts….trying to keep a consistent level of moisture.
I know in soil, too much moisture deprives oxygen and the roots don’t thrive.
My current mix is 70/30 plus I added a bit of rice hulls. The likelihood of drowning the roots seems like far less of a risk.
I want to fill out that 7 gal pot and I know roots don’t chase dry medium……but shouldn’t a consistent moist medium allow the roots to grow into the bigger pot?
Sorry for such a long post…..I’d just love to know the optimal time to water and to what extent.
The pic is my 2 girls yesterday. They’ve been vegging for about 7 weeks and I’ve really trained the hell out of one of them. The other I didn’t open up as much, but have lollipopped. I think I’ll flip to 12/12 in the next few days.
Thanks for any comments, I appreciate it.

it's just ratio based so no matter what volume you use it's always the same

2:1:1 if you are using "cups" as a measurement then for every 2 cups of promix you would add 1 cup of perlite and 1 cup of EWC

the feed schedules are per gallon based for Macros(the NPK stuff) and just flat rate application for micros

Actually I'm glad you brought it up. I was still in week 1ish when top dressed with GG. You are very right about the fans blowing being of concern. I watched Wizs vid and I like his style. I think I am going to do what he said and add a bit of soil to the ammendment before even top dress. I will just take a gallon ziplock and toss a few cups of soil in plus whatever is to be top dressed, then dance around like a fruit cake while shaking it up, then just carefully cut a hole in the corner of the bag and pour onto soil. Makes sense in my head but then again I'm pretty baked

Yooo bro sorry I missed this and your ladies look real nice. Must be doing a lot right to get plants looking like that. I'm new to growing and coming up on barely a year. From reading what you wrote I could not help but completely sympathize and empathize with the time you had to take to water properly. I have spent much trying to solve this and I can honestly say your answer is simply a choice. I would choose between either blumats like I am using or a drip/emitter with a pump system . I think they both have advantages and disadvantages but I would think with 70/30 coco you can't expect to hand water forever. I did it my 1st grow ever with 2 widow and 2 chem cookies and I was in 50/50 perl/coco and hand watered. It was a complete pain due to time it took and I never got into a habit of properly watering till runoff because it took so long. This caused ec issues and although things worked out in the end, I knew fast drying mediums were not for me until I found a way to automate. Have you considered other ways of watering?

Fucking potheads. DO NOT USE EXTENSION CABLES WITH LEDs for block heaters! Lmao

Been like this for a year. Now I know what's been causing the banners

@Bullmark69 hit up @Blastfact for any questions with Coco/GG he does quite well with that combo.

Well ain’t that a bitch, I am sure your heart dropped. Good thing is, you found the issue and it’s been rectified! If Manufactures are going to design this they need to get with green LEDs
