I only used to trim bud by hand before and I remember it taking for ever. Now I have a large grow op and I was wondering if the new machines are good enough in comparison to hand trimminng because trimming large amounts doesn't seem practical to me.

whats a large amount?

they arent ideal, but they work

Ive used them a lot. The type with the rubber fingers that swirl the buds around and the leaves drop into slits where they're cut off. Best practice is to hand trim tops and nice mids, then machine everything else. Using one machine with an operator/plant striper and two hand trimmers we could process 200 plants under 80 600w lights in a 40x20'room in about 3 days wet trimming.

I saw that they have new machines that are medical cannabis approved that can trim 72 pounds per day easily. They are 20k but in my opinion if they do a good job they are worth it.

might be worth it, I feel at that kind of weight you could hire trimmers who could probably do the whole crop in a week or less
the machines are fine but they do lower the quality of the buds similar to tumbling them

This. I'd NEVER use a machine to process tops and nice mids because they strip so much resin and bruise the buds. They're only useful for processing all the small crap that takes forever to hand trim. I know a lot of large scale growers and they all employ hand trimmers for the good stuff and machine the smalls. It's a terrible practice cutting corners on quality for the sake of saving a few bucks imho and that's one of the reason so many people hate the large LP weed in Canada with their mass produced machine processed garbage. .

how many trimmers you think it would take to trim 120 pounds? i remember it taking forever to trim one pound

Its always better to pay people imo,
But bonkey is a christian baron... he looks after his tenants :P

We could do 15 pounds per day with 3 people and one machine, two people hand trimming, mind you they were fucking pros. So 6 people with 2 machines you could do it in 4-5 days imho. 4 people hand trimming and 2 people stripping plants and running the machine.

For average non-pros, likely a week. But theyd get faster with every crop.

when its peoples job they get crazy fast at cleaning a crop
you can usually even find sub contractor outfits to do it, with bonds and backgrund checked workers and w.e
Id say a week or so, but dirtbags right it depends on how much smaller stuff there is

Yup we hired a crew of chicks that travelled all over Vancouver island and the lower mainland. They were probably the fastest trimmers I've seen and did quality work on top of that, they werent sloppy at all. They were paid very well for trimmers also.

When they showed up, they got right down to bizznisss...

I live in Europe, work ethic here is not quite the same as in North America.

I was thinking this machine:

Only thing I see there is this.

I'm sorry but that doesnt sit well with me..

And that machine seems WAY overkill for 120lb every 2 months. A 1500 dollar tumbler should suffice.

Ah my bad, maybe this would work

Yeah that does seem like alot but i wouldn't use a 1500$ machine, those are a bit crummy in my opinion.

I think those are them, or similar

I think those are them, or similar
and if they are they will pull crystal off your bud like crazy

Yeah those are nice machines and would still be useful if you scale up also.

I'd still only use it for smalls. Hand trimmers for tops and mids all the way.
