Harvest and bud wash question

Happy Friday,

I am going to chop my trees tomorrow and do a bud wash. Question on the drying after bud wash, how long do you allow to hang before putting them in your final drying place? Also do you use light dans while you hang dry immediately after washing your buds? Also there is a lot of dry brown fan leaves should I cut them off or let the bud wash do its job and dry them that way? Thanks
Do not use peroxide. I lived on a grow farm in Orville California for years, ran koffin often extracts, dealt with hundreds of pounds of outdoor at a time. Usually you do a good rinse of the soil a week before harvest and stop water 3 days from chop. I have never heard of a single person worried about the dirt on their buds... Smh, that's part of out door. You will ruin turpenes with hydrogen peroxide and degrade the THC. There is no benefit at all. Just cure it properly. The only thing I would suggest to one of the answers, is 7 day hang dry the whole plant. Then switch to jars. Go a little past the snap. Then jars will pull interior humidity out. Good job on the grow. Hope you are happy with your self, at least we all know you are not hurting for bud for a bit 😆

  1. In the processing area, plants were dunked in 1% hydrogen peroxide solution and hung on racks to dry outdoors. This prevents them from molding as they dry out.
Changed to: Marijuana plants dunked in 1% hydrogen peroxide solution.

Here's a picture of Ed Rosenthal dunking an entire cannabis plant in a 1% hydrogen peroxide solution post harvest in 2018.

The only thing peroxide should be used for, starting seedlings. The other is for foliar spray, and that's if you have powdery mildew in a couple areas. And its a last resort. Not something you use to cure bud. You wouldn't spray your whole crop or wash your crop. And they are Washing hemp. Hemp still creates flowers but is missing THC. They may contain a very low amount running under hemp guidelines. But for any marijuana, you want avoid over handling and any disturbances to your THC and turpenes. That looks like a quick way to destroy all your hard work.

Did I miss where in the blog post that he said that it was hemp?

I read the article a second ago. Still wouldn't recommend. I have worked in multiple 502 grows down the coast and lived around grows my whole life. And that's is literally the first I have seen for someone dunking a plant. Tell you what, you make some of this solution, and try it out with a plant and let us know how it goes? This is a place to learn after all. I'm not trying to argue with you, everything is an opinion. If we ever developed any powdery mildew on anything the small amount of product is either thrown away, or used for a bon fire.

I'm just here to share and gather information. Not to argue.
I appreciate that you are here and willing to share what you have learned in your experience. I want to be educated on what I don't know, lol.
I am looking for information supporting your position on H2O2 and cannabis, but haven't found any yet, is all. I would love for someone to point me in the right direction.

As for trying it out myself, I personally have washed all my outdoor grown herb this way for 5 years and have not noticed any negative results. But I'm a backyard gardener growing for my personal head stash only. I have never had any of my weed tested, so I can't make any claims in that regard. I agree that it might be interesting to see results from such a test.

I also throw away anything with PM, etc.

100% valid concerns Ninja! : ) From what I’ve read it’s the two combined that makes the light cleaning solution? I didn’t notice any trichomes degradation after the wash, now for the terpenes i cant say! I screwed my drying up and kind of cooked the smell out lol! If i crack any of it open though it still smells good, so im thinking its not going to affect the terps.

My question lay in the h202 being for killing mold, thats where your concern comes into play in my opinion. Is a 3% h2o2 1 cup in 5 gallons of water enough to reach the levels to actually kill the mold spores? I think if you made a mix that actually did something in that way you would totally smoke your trichomes.

At the very most, we need to get a side by side dunk going on with the lemon and baking soda mix next to just plain water! Even with my three dunk (water h2o2 mix) and two plain water i noticed debris rinsing off. 🤷‍♂️

Im fall for less is more so if its not really doing anything i dont want to be doing the work or spending the money! Hahaha! ✌️
Your trying to get 1.5% peroxide bottles are like a buck two make a gallon I soak mine water then peroxide then clean water kill mold cleans inside plants been out in some crazy shit all Sumer and fall they get dirty
You clean you fruits and vegetables

For hydrogen peroxide we use it at 1% for seed germination. It increases your success rate for successful sprouts. What it does is breaks down the seed wall and oxygenates the water. It creates a warmth as well while breaking down the seed shell. For foliar spray it's hydrogen peroxide diluted down to 1% and spot sprayed on any areas that are towards the shade that look like it may develop any pm.

I have did the dip and dunk.....I have not botice any ill effect. Understand you are not soaking it. It's getting a quick dip. I use 1 cup of hydrogen peroxide to 41/2 to 5 gallons.....my second 4 gallon bucket there is 1 cup of baking soda and 1 cup lemon juice.....a quick dip and swirl in each.....before I dip in plain water in 3rd bucket....then again in water in a 4th bucket. I let it dry for 4 to 5 hours and get to trimming off the fan leaves just after lunch....depends on what im doing with it....sift hash....or bud. If sift hash let er dry dry dry. If bud....wet harvest or dry harvest....you know the drill.

Been washing outdoor grows for a couple of years now, no ill effects. Wash away. Most people who have tried mine ask how I get it to taste so good. Trichomes and terpenes are not water soluble so being swished around in a 5-gallon bucket with a cup of peroxide is not going to hurt a thing.
