Harvesting for the first time, advice needed please

Hello All, I am on my 5th day of flushing in hydro.

I have seen stem splitting 3 days before harvest, can anybody recommend? Also, I have seen people not putting the lights on for the last 48 hours... again can anybody recommend?

Hints and tips welcome please.
