@Aqua Man , I think this is the first time you and I have disagreed. Optic is legit.

I got a pair of 8+ over my 4x8 nicely cooking the tops of 6 plants. I also have an Apogee PAR/PPFD/FAR RED sensor here in my hot little hands if you want to mess around.

@Moe.Red so what so you think about the slim 650s? Would love to hear your honest opinion. Thank you for the help.

Oh don't get me wrong they will absolutely grow... im strictly talking that thier math cannot possibly be accurate and is likely a fair bit exaggerated especially on the efficacy. I believe they use a formula to calculate and do not aquire third party testing.

Can't speak specifically that model, just to the company. I believe I got 100% of both what I paid for and what the company claims from Optic. I am not affiliated in any way and paid full price yada yada

I have a tent that has HID in it too, and I am thinking of going LED in both flower tents. I'm open to the current best too for a 4x8. I'd like to run a side by side comparison. I have lots of unanswered questions about spectrum as well. UV, Far Red, green wavelinks, etc. Check out Bruce Bugbee's work if you truly want to understand just how little we know about light and photosynthesis.

What I do like about the style of light you picked is the adaptability it allows for supplemental light sources to tune your grow if you are into that kind of thing. I cannot do it as easily with my setup.

I'll be your third party. Whatcha wanna know? I can take a video of the measurements and post it.

I am 60Hz 114VAC at the wall. I can measure any form of light (including spectrum) that you like.

BTW - Not trying to prove anything right or wrong, it's just data to me. Measurable things are easy and takes away a lot of debate.

The ppfd in a sphere test. Unfortunately not really a home option.

I'm curious how at the same wattage and 1500 less diodes of the SAME type of diodes if can be more efficient than the hlg scorpion diablo.

Same diodes.... running the diodes at a lower wattage makes them more efficient.... so how with the same diodes and 1500 less can it be that much more efficient?

To me it just doesn't add up... but like I say that not to say they can't grow some killer plants and are not viable. To me though it creates a distrust and if they are using a formula to falsely report the efficacy based on math instead of actuality then I question other things.

This is very common among the Chinese light markets who I won't name but ita not new that this is done.

Tell you what H2Ombre, I'm a few weeks away from harvest in that tent. Right now would be a bad time to do a PPFD map. I just harvested the HID tent. That has 1000 + 600 + 600 with good bulbs. I'll take a video of that tent before it gets full again and then one of the LED tent when it is harvested. I'll compare the 2 and get back to you in a month or so.

I am not married to buying more Optics for the HID retirement. If there is a better light out there, I'd be interested. I might even be able to do some stealth testing at local grow shops to compare models to listed stats. Yes, I am a geek.

Ahh, I understand. We are not talking about the same thing. I'm talking about my lights with no info on the 650s, and you are doing the smart thing and talking about the subject of this thread lol.

I cannot speak to your point, I have not (yet) done the research. What I can say is that on the 8, Optic had it right and I personally verified it.

Geeks are awesome thats would be great to see.

Honestly I think those lights will also kill it but for the price I believe there are better quality as of this point in time.

I would definitely grow with them even knowing what I'm claiming and theybare by no means the only manufacturer reporting ppfd and efficacy based on formulas... there are many companies doing this.

This rocks! This is what this site is all about. You guys are great. Love to hear both sides of the Spectrum, so to speak. Love to see that video when your grow is done. Thank you both of you. I have learned so much on THC FARMER.

Nonsmoker, my little sidetrack was answering a different question than what you asked. Hijack over.

After looking closely at Aqua mans posts, I confirm the Diablo has both a dumb name and a much better chance of being the superior light.

Who would name a light after a Mexican fighting chicken?

This sample light test is interesting. When you shop lighting for retail stores they give you all kinds of info.

for weed growing most companies just post an arbitrary graph and say some stuff. Lol
