Why would humidity levels be controlled in a wine cooler chilled environment?

Yeah, I thought the humidity would be too high. I was just curious.

I dry in my entire grow room. Humidity varies from 52-63%RH. Temperature varies between 64-75°F. Drying takes 8-13 days depending on bud density/size. I harvest 10-13lb’s per year. Product is always top notch and always gets prized feedback/reviews.

Don’t over think it.

Yeah, I have some drying in my dry tent now. I have a wine cooler and was just curious. It's like a science experiment.

The temps and humidity sound great. So my question with your harvest then is, do you hand trim?

I overthink everything

Lost of info out ther if you search for diy cannatrol.
It uses the wine cooler because it has a thermoelectric motor not a compressor.
You have to get a small dehumidifier, take it apart. Install into the fridge, a computer fan, Cut a hole in the fridge for wires and sensors in and out.
Get an inkbird humidity and temp controller.
Boom 1200$-(1600$ if in Canada) saved.
Im planning on doing one in the future.
Good luck growchacho

I dry in a 2x2x3 tent with a circular drying rack I bought from AC Infinity. I use Inkbird controllers when needed. Air flow through the tent is probably most important and I use variable speed fans to control it.

I'm thinking of doing something similar cuz I have no place to dry in the new house, there's only two closets, both full; it's not a huge place like the beach house back in Boston, it's just a little house in the country and I have no idea as of yet how I'm going to set up the grow room this fall? It's still got carpet in it

100% hand trim. I’ve tried 3 different rotation trimmers in the past 4 years. They all suck. Nothing like true sculptured hand trimmed nuggets. Commercial junk PGR Cannabis can be trimmed with machines because of the altered bud structure.

This is Cannabis with PGR’s. (AKA: Goat turds) (See picture) 95% of dispensary product contains these VOC growth regulators now. Even though most are “illegal”. There’s no money to be made anymore because of so much competition in the industry.

I'm sure hand trim is best. So time consuming though! The trimmers look like they'd beat up the buds. I've never heard of PGR cannabis. I'm going to ask the local dispensary what they use for growing. I have close friends that work there. I do know they hand trim. Definitely a difference looking at the buds in the photos.

Thanks, you too and if you build it tag me in I want to follow along!

I'm keeping the grow legal size so won't be much quantity to deal with, what I think I'm going to do is either hang buds vertically from strings in a 2x2 tent and then just add the small fan and the ink bird controlled humidifier

...or I have one of those hanging baskets which I think I would need a 3×3' tent for, gonna check if they make one for a 2×2'

I just finished an 8oz yield plant. 7 hours total. 3 more plants to go. :)

It’s not uncommon for me to spend 20-30 hours a month trimming.

I dry in a compressor wine fridge. Works great. The technique is differnt than a thermoelectric wine cooler, ( don’t need a fan or mini dehu for starters) when useing a compressor wine fridge or frost free fridge it’s called “ the lotus dry” lots of info google “ dr ziggy low and slow”

I load up the wine fridge, any excess is dried in the tent. The tent dry is “ ok” but the wine fridge dry is top notch phenomenal !!!

It just make my drying a no brainer.

I will be. Drilled a hole in the back of one and shoved an Inkbird sensor through. The humidity drops really low on its own, I mean low. You'll dry your flower to fast. With the Inkbird, the wine cooler will shutoff automatically. So far my test runs with a wet sponge is 55%-62% .. thinking that's a good range for drying. And the temps will drop as low as 64-70 range. Depending how wet the sponge is. The real test will be when I harvest end of this month or mid December. I basically turned my wine cooler into a Cannatrol. Sorta. So we'll see. Bought the wine cooler used for $100.

Thats a big boy.i have a small one and only the dehumidifier runs on a sensor fridge goes to 12c and shuts off doednt really overdry it. When you test with full fridge you will see. You need a dehumidifier to dry but also to heat soo fridge doesnt auto turnoff.and peltiers dont like to turn off often soo pit a big range in humidity shut off

It's a cooler, not a dryer...I don't think it's up to drying. Specially it it has a humidor inside. Totally would NOT recommend risking it. HOWEVER you can put a sheet of paper in, see if it goes dry or wet
