When I look at seeds for sale at a seed bank and it states it flowers in October, how do they come up with that? I thought it depended on your location and your distance to the equator.
Please enlighten me.

It's part averaging and part guessing. Obviously the don't think you are growing outdoors on the equator. If you were, most of today's strains will not even grow right.

I didn't mean to insinuate ON the equator. But I thought there was a big difference from like Canada to say Georgia. Saw this video also, so was wondering how they (seed bank) came up with there estimate. It has a chart that estimates veg and flower time based on location.

IDK I do indoors, but if I lived in Canada I'd go with an early strain 50-60 day or September: Georgia might be able to go 70-80 day or November. Just guessing though.

Bunch of perspective bullshit that’s annoying and incorrect

They take examples of the strain, plant them, and see what the average time it takes to ripen. Most hybrids are done from 7-10 weeks from onset of flowering.

I live in Canada and I have never had one properly ripen before 2nd week october,if weather allowed it a cple more weeks would be better. I find the most potency comes from plants(same strain) I put in containers and grow to a decent size then put them out july to august . I put them out before work and in a dark room when I get home, the bright sun brings out the resin and the outdoor october plants aren't in the same league.

It's usually the breeder submitting the info and it's based on where they grow "mostly" but can be considered a generic expectation for many outdoor growers. It's useful info. When i release something I'm working on outdoors here in texas and i say it's a Sept. crop a bunch of growers kinda already know what's going within that info...some are going "shit, we cant use it"...others might be saying "yeah we can try that one here in Zone 8b".
