Lol I run a led and hps so maybe consider a Mars 11 1200 plus a gravita

Lmao! Yes be afraid of running 64 watts per square foot. Lol.

I really hope you don't listen to the newb about not running 1600 watts in your 5x5 area.
You want to shoot for 50 watts per square foot.

Leds are the way to go if you want to lose money.

Well, look what the "NEWB" is doing with only 1200 watts in a 7x5, 2 feet longer than what he has.
I can't imagine how much heat those 1600w would generate in a 5x5, plus he would sacrifice some space to place an ac unit inside the tent or, spend even more getting a mini split to solve the heat issue, and the portable unit taking more space.
You call me "newb" because I don't post here enough? LOL
Maybe LED is the way to lose for those who doesn't know what they're doing, absolutely agree! Soon I will be posting pictures with some LED panel to blow your mind.
Peace

If i had at least 1ft higher I'd go with Mars II. They use 5w led and it produces a little bit more heat that the 3w, so in that case I'd have to keep the lights far from the canopy, and for that reason I will get some 3w and keep the panels close to the canopy.
What LED panel are you using? Are you mixing both spectrum or have them running separately?
Thanks

Both spectrums . Mars11 900w and a 250 watt hps . Both run together and the temp is 24.5 cel with a cold inlet fan .

I run 1200 watts in a 4x4 . And I'd con

Just to correct Ned, you are running 250 watts from hps + 400~450 watts from the Mars II 900, putting you at around 700 watts in a 4x4, which is absolutely great!
That is exactly what gives LED bad reputation. The manufacture name their lights comparing with HPS, but in fact you're not getting that. The mars II 900 for example should be named Mars II 400w, the 1200 model a real 600. I will switch my 2, 600hps for 2 LED pulling out of the wall exactly 1114 watts. Lot of people fail with LED because they buy some 100w panel listed as 400w and they expect to get the same results as if they were using 400HID, wrong!

I am also considering to replace my portable unit with a mini split which is way more efficient and add some 100w LED panels next to the HID.

sounds like a plan and the mars dont run very hot another reason i put the hps in keep the temp up abit

If your goin with feminized you wont need veg room
How come? Where would the plants veg?

Do i have to have a veg room, cant grow in same room? Im getting femanized purple kush. I know i veg for 4-6 weeks maybe longer, then start to flower.. down time?? Xx kid twist xx

If you have only 1 tent, then you would vegetate your plants in that tent, after reaching maturate, you would replace your MH bulbs to HPS bulbs and start flowering. Now, if you buy LED, you can use the same panel to VEGETATE and FLOWER, saving you more money in bulbs.
A lot of people talk shit about LED’s mostly because they don’t know SHIT about it. For example comparing initial costs, so let’s do a real comparison.

I will use decent brands, because if you go with cheaper ballast, hoods and bulbs, I’d have to compare with cheap LED panels too.

Blockbuster Reflector 6 inch Air Cool Free Shipping hood US $165.00 x 2 = US $330
Hydrofarm Phantom II E-ballast 600w 120/240v digital dimmable grow light US $168.02 x 2 = US $336
Active Air 6 inch In-Line Fan 400 CFM Blower Inline Ventilation Hydrofarm 6” US $73.92
6" X 25Ft Flexible Aluminum Ducting Hose 2 Clamp Inline Exhaust Fan Duct Tube US $24.99
Apollo Horticulture 1/4" 2pc Grow Light Rope Hanger Ratchets for Reflector Hood US $10.95 x 2 = 21.90
SHARP CV10CTX 10,000 BTU Compact Portable Electric Air Conditioner | 410 Sq Ft US $244.99 (Keep in mind that portable units will take some of your grow are space.)
Eye Hortilux 600 watt Super HPS Enhanced 600W US $73.97
Digilux MH Lamps 600w - hydroponics grow bulbs veg metal halide 600 watt US $64.99

Total initial cost of 1169.57

LED cost.

E.shine ES-400x3W-3GB US $ 680. It is the equivalent of the Platinum LED P1200 that costs 1299. Draw power 758 watts

Platinum LED P600 Price : $659 each. Draw power 368 watts. 3 of them for $1,878.00 total draw power 1104 watts
You can contact an E.shine sales person and ask the price for their 200x3W LED Grow Light which is pretty much the same as PLED P600 and probable half of the price.

Mars II series 900W US $348.99 each. US $697.98 Free shipping. Draw Power: 400~450W each. 800-900 watts total. This setup or any of the 3 200x3 LED panels would give the best coverage for a 5x5 and still using way less than 2, 600watts HPS. Don’t forget that with HID you uses way more than the 600 watts listed, you must use a kill watt to check exactly how much the ballast and bulb are drawing.

Another fact is heat. People claim the LED doesn’t run that cool as HID, well, it DOES! Turn off your inline fan and see how much heat those HID will produce.

So, LED is not that much expensive as people think it is, since both methods have a high cost to start. Don’t forget that using HID’s has the cost of new bulbs every 6 months, with LED you get from 3 to 5 years warranty and they replace everything for you.
Check this out:

Peace

@Th3K3yK33p3r he wouldn't need veg room because he's growin from fem seed. He can veg 30 days and flip in the same room. Also he can buy 2 gavita 600s for $388 shipped per unit. And 10k btu ac $150 shipped on ebay. Which is cheaper upfront and yielding better than led. Which I'm assuming he did already.

One 1000k hps with a cool tube reflecter or umbrella and a couple decent fans to suck the heat out and bring the fresh in some good soil and good genetics and gobs of Patience!happy growing,Peace

Hey i got two 600e se gravitas that are reading low voltage, it came with a 240v, but i went and got a 120v for it. What do i do call an electrician?
