Having problems finding authentic genetics in nor cal. Any Advice?

Well, hello everyone. Thanks for your time and advice in advance. I have a few grows under my belt at this point and have used clones at a couple clubs in the Sac area. My issue is that I honestly don't trust the genetics that I have gotten. I wish that I had taken some pics to verify but the reality is that not a single clone turned out to be close to verified pics on the forums.

So i decided to take a trip to the bay this last week and figured that I would check out iMedz. The kid behind the counter looked at me like I was stupid when i asked to see their clones. I read a few times that they had good cuts so I figured I could play it safe with them, nope apparently they don't and wont have any more clones.

Anyways does anyone have any suggestions on where I could acquire some decent genetics in the Sac or Bay area? I am willing to drive for what I need. I don't really want to trust random people on craigslist. I have not heard any good stories of craigslist finds. Any ideas or direction would be greatly appreciated.

If you wanna verified I would start with a seed personally, but what type of strain are you looking for?

weed maps. bay area has a ton of places, sucks u lucked out. la has a lot too.

getting cuts from other growers is the best alternative. it's the only way of being able to see the finished product and get a cut off the mom it came from. alot of the clones you get are from guys that just grow clones and their biggest care is how that pheno is at being a mom and not how dank the herb is. That being said, if you don't personally know anyone with good genetics, think about making a run from seed and finding your own fire pheno. if thats to much of a hassle for you then i have reccomend checking weedmaps around the bay area IME the clones there are better that sac or socal.

I think Bodhi said he was dropping off clones at Santa Cruz if Im not mistaking, I'll put up the exact location tonight. I wish I lived in Cali or just had a rec card to come score some of the Fire Elites you guys got going out there, not that I'm not finding fire of my own, would just be cool to see how some of my keepers stack up to some of the Elites.

Well, I'm looking for something to run in my SOG grow. I actually have some GWS beans from Mr. Nice which I will get going on another project but I wanted to find something that I could get at least a decent yield off of that would be a good strong proven winner. I only do two grows a year for personal so when I get a cut that isn't what I had spend a few months looking forward to it is kind of a let down. I see so many nice flowers on the forums and then I look at what I have done, I am happy and they tend to come out pretty dank but not like some I see on here. I just suppose I need to get into the in crowd.

Yeah i feel you there. I have gotten a few clones several times now and I always of course know that I cant be sure they are legit unless I had verification and the reality is that clubs sort of say anything to get a sale. Hence the reason there are 800 different GSC cuts floating around and whatever else is the flavor of the month on the top shelf. I don't really socialize with anyone and advertise that I have anything to do with smoking or growing. I am a private person and to be honest this is my first and second post now! socialization might be key to this step i suppose!

I look forward to the info! I also love seeing the cuts we have but just don't get out enough to get my hands on any. I have grown from seed several times now with some of Shantibaba seeds and love them but I urn for these elite cali cuts! I know my setup is nice, i just want to see what it is capable of on a killer pheno!

Seriously your friends are your best source for cuts.

People talk alot of shit about craigslist, but some of the better cuts I have gotten have been from craigslist. Maybe Oregon is way cooler than cali?

For 5 to 10 bucks a pop you cant really go wrong. I got the real deal big yield blue dream off craigslist, and bought five other fake cuts from clubs and dispensaries. I got a badass cinex cut, a killer trainwreck cut. Hella good cuts to be had on craigslist. ASK TO SEE A BUDSHOT.

You make really good points. My friends however have no clue that I farm at all. I keep a rather stealth life in this sense hence my 3 posts online!

I gave up on the clone scene in SoCal, all seed grows from now on and finding my own clone only's. Trading clones with other growers would be the only way I trust the genetics. good luck in your search.

In the last three or four years I purchased several clones from a local dispensary. Four were not what they were supposed to be. I think when you are buying from a place where multiple stoners are in charge you get what you get.

I run clones from, my own seeds also. Seems you don`t get what they say or it comes with pests (or both).

I know it has its own set of "rules/risks" but I also have seen some nice deals/cheaper options in both seeds and clones via craiglsist and budtrader......but again, there is a risk involved. I recently started working with a farmer for my clones, cheaper price, somewhat easier genetics to look into and I figure once I can verify hit with some colloidal silver and make my own seeds...

Sounds good, but I havent fully "tested" the whole theory, still need to make my cs genrator, and wait for a few seeds I dropped to finish vegging.

I also have thought the last few I got from a dispensary were not what they said and I never get mites until I use dispensary cuts. Cant prove it, but After a few times it seems mighty coincidental

I 2nd developing a relationship with others that are in the "know"

I highly recommend Dark Heart Nursery from Elemental in San Jose. You can either look at the menu on the website, or check DHN twitter as they always post when they're gonna drop and what flav. I emailed them and was sent a pdf of all the cuts they have. My last run was Cherry Pie, Grape Ape, Alien OG, Blue Dream. The CP is the dank!!! Has a few balls on the lower plant, but I just picked em off. The AOG, is very nice and yields are killer, Grape Ape was dank, but yields on the low side. Blue Dream... well it's BD, can't go wrong with her. Harborside carries DHN, but I've always had problems with their gear. Hope this helps:cigar:

I got grape ape four years ago and kept it two years. Got it again last year from same dispensary and it wasn't even the same plant. I wish I had the first on back.(still have a little left and use it when I need to sleep)

Exactly what you gotta do here, never had a bad plant from DHN, all the cuts are verified before being put out to public,

Thanks peeps, that's actually exactly what i ended up deciding to do... It looks like DHN has great reviews all around... I grow SOG so I look for a big main cola. My grow is rather small so it doesn't produce a ton but in reality I don't need it to so it keeps me happy :) My plan was to try an acquire DHN's BD cut. I was looking at elemental but their BD Cut seems to be from SCM right now. I would really like to get my hands on one of those ultra high CBD low THC strands but it doesn't look like that will happen any time soon. Rebuilding my room right now so I am about a week away from needing to get my gear...

They have BD at Elemental now and it's DHN... If you like big cola the Chemdog #4 is pretty nice. I would try at least 1 Cherry Pie just so you can see how bomb it is.
