well things went better then expected....SB 58 passed legislature board with the amendment that a caregiver will be permitted to grow medical plants for 3 people other then him/herself...also caregivers will be permitted to have 3 oz. per patient and 7 plants per patient.....In March we will find out if/when this will be finalized

SB 175 Moving Medical Marijuana Program to the Health department instead of the non-compliant Honolulu Police Department...it was deemed necessary to transfer powers due to HPD being noncomplaint...and has done everything in their power to make the Medical Marijuana Program fail....

SB113 Medical Marijuana Bill passed the Legislature as well with a few amendments...number of participating patients is of interest...

Hope to see more folks out showing their support...send in patient testimonies

aloha...be safe...Gro-On

Update on SB 1458 SD2, which creates medical marijuana compassion centers was heard yesterday by the House Committees on Health and Public Safety:

The committees passed the bill with major amendments, so now it becomes SB 1458 SD2 HD1. The following are the unofficial amendments, from our notes, so please be aware that the final language of the draft may be different.
(Unofficial) Amendments:
Establishes a pilot program on Maui for 5 years, with one dispensary
Requires:
24/7 live video feed to law enforcement
24/7 unannounced access for law enforcement
A copy made of"prescription" kept at dispensary and (available for law enforcement?)
Non-card holders not allowed on premises
Dispensary must be 600 yards (not feet!) from nearest schools, etc
No use on premises
Edibles must meet DOH food production standards
General excise tax of 30% to go to general fund
Annual licensing fee (which is still not determined) for the dispensary will go to Maui County.

Votes:
Reps. *Belatti, Takumi, Pine: with reservations (still counts as yes)
Reps. Ching, Lee, Fontaine, Johanson: no

SB 1458 is a load of crap

this will make it so Maui has a dispensary and only Maui....this makes no sense and is another attempt by the Hawaii Police Department to undermine the program. There is no compassion for our sick, 5 year plan in Maui, screws the cancer/MS patients because some of them don't have 5 yrs to wait for their medicine. As beautiful as Hawaii is...it's powered by a bunch of crooks. Maui has the least number of patients in the program...Right now in Hawaii..HPD (Hawaii Police Department) is in charge of the Medical Marijuana program in Hawaii (NED Narcotics Enforcement Division). Currently, if a patient goes to his/her doctor and qualifies....it takes the police department 4.5 to 5 months before the patient receives their actually card. The police department comes to the Senate bill hearings and says they don't want the Medical Marijuana program...they(Hawaii 5.0)even have gone to the measures of handing out Anti-Medical Marijuana propaganda in front of Walmart in uniform. This is not right, we put the time in to rewrite these bills so they can function smoothly for both the patients and the law...they are using our tax dollars to once again fight the program....sorta like when the funding was cut for green harvest (helicopters) the state then used funds from the evasive species project (the eradication of plants that are not from Hawaii) to locate Marijuana patches...farms....patient's plants....too much corruption to list...get active people...it's the only way to put an end to this Crap...call your senators...
be safe...gro-on

It's not corruption man, it's just that everything comes slow to Hawaii. Change is non-existent and things stay static generation in and generation out...Having a law AT ALL is amazing. Try living in a state without one. I went to my doc on the Big Island and received a card 6 weeks later. It was extremely efficient, and nobody messed with me at all. NED was great, HPD, et al. Yea, no dispensaries, but no need. That's a fool's game and just for crooks anyhow. "non-profit"??? HA! ...See California in the dictionary under "non-profit-dispensary" where you can buy an ounce of premium Jack Herer for OVER $400/oz!! Not for profit deals are NOT PASSED ON BY THE DISPENSARY SYSTEM, they are clearly passed on by THE PATIENT CARE-GIVING SYSTEM...That's all that's needed...beyond that, care-givers need to stop bullshitting and STAY LEGAL...Greedy fucks. Ruin it for everyone else...and they claim medical protection.

The problem is that people ABUSE the system. People lie about their illnesses, people lie about how many patients they care-give for, people lie about the size of their garden, people sell weight on the side while they should be running a non-profit....and ON AND ON AND ON...Those are major patient issues from a LEO perspective (law enforcement officer). The worst part is that the REAL PATIENTS GET SCREWED BY THE LIARS AND FAKERS! That's the part that should piss everybody off. It all just rubs off badly and HPD just can't see through the bullshit. How can we blame them? A lot of idiots and bad people are involved with marijuana, both legal and illegal. The medical side has LOTS OF PROOF and is fantastic. We know marijuana can 'save lives', can 'save spirits', can 'save sanity', and on and on...What we need is to get people charged up to get rid of the thieves, liars, and dirty smelly hippies...At least in my opinion man. Nothing personal, but if the industry is to EVER be taken seriously....well, it has to look serious. We complain and say "oh the man, I hate the man, they screw me left and right, just give us our medicine, why do we have to fight this fight!!?"...But that's just a loser and victim mentality. We need to prove once and for all that people who use marijuana responsibly come from ALL WALKS OF LIFE, and represent ALL TYPES OF AMERICANS. Then we can have a medical marijuana law, dispensary system, and legal system that is self-reinforcing and long lasting without prejudice...Stop the complaining, and start the "responsible-a-tating"
