Thanks for the response Cap.. laughing at the fact that if the lakeshore and the "Studio City" bud were the same, (Lakeshore $640/oz in 2002) then that means that it was "mid-shelf" lol..... The Hawaiian $960/oz would be Top Shelf... The chances are good that it was the same 2 guys seeing I came across anything as expensive again.. 50$ an eighth was the price i paid everywhere else at the time.. Somewhere someone knows the strain of that Hawaiian Sativa..Its been 12years so what is a few more ..

Would you pay that now if you could get it again?

Good morning Cap.. If I had the chance again, i would.. I seem to remember having my girl pay for the bud.. Seems i had misplaced my wallet. Happened a lot to me during my dating career lol.. I didn't smoke the Hawaiian, I only looked and squeezed it.. Imagine s a taste test with it, Yeti, and Chemdog.. Being my age (45) and smoking daily since 1985, we smoked some incredible strains that we called just "indica".. The kids these days have it so good because the lineage is listed whether the cut is legit or not.. Take for instance.. Back in 1985 my father an ex-marine was put on a heart transplant list at ucla.. He was told he could not travel anymore and had to stay within an hour of campus in case a heart came in.. He took us on one last family vacation to Hawaii summer of 85 against dr's recommendation.. I will never forget that trip as long as i live, shit kicker is my dad died of liver and pancreas cancer in 93 after his heart mad a miraculous comeback.. Thank you Hawaii for the memories.. Anyways, I was "boogying" at Maalaya (we were staying at the Banyons) (maui) and that right off the jetty was my best rides ever btw... Anyways, i got an eighth of something called "golden voice".. I paid 60$ in 1985...wish is knew what kind of bud that was... High was incredible.. But,, If I had one wish..It would be to have my favorite bud of my life back.. 1984 thru 1987 I was lucky enough to be a part of a group of guys that got the same bud for 4 years straight.. It was called "the Bolt'..buds lime green and round as a golfball..It was obviously outdoor and sometimes usually late in the year it would be purple (most coveted).. It was "expando" lol.. Expand in your lungs and you could not wait to blow the hit out.. Looking forward to seeing bog, nspecta, and loompa at HTCC next month...Perhaps one of them can direct me to this Humboldt strain.. (its probably gone with my luck).. Gonna get me some gear and start my grow so I can feel like "a part of" with you guys...Thank you Hawaii for letting me hijack this thread for a moment..

Cool stories guys, that is some pretty costly smoke......too bad ya never had a girl buy one of the Hawaiian bags. Lol Hard to say exactly soo many passionate underground growers here, and if it was only 15 years ago chances are the lines are still around.

My buddy I cruz with sometimes is an old Waikiki beach boy who got big into the smuggling with BOEL and Gerry Lopez and the lightning bolt guys(named the company after the weed) and eventually ended up in a Thai prison. I will have to ask him the lineage again of the Bolt and where they grew it. Golden Voice is a sativa line that is pretty much gone too.

Dirt, did you guys get a lot of Golden Voice back in the day?

yup, the North Shore is a humbling place...but the good side is that once you get comfortable up there, it makes surfing almost everywhere else on the island seem like a walk in the park.

@ surf I think I know the dog seeds you were talking about in the original post. It is now exactly the same as the Chemdog but it is a cousin. Its really a Chem line backcross. It was a headband x og. I have an s1 cut I selected from some of those first beans. Its made by Breeders Boutique and tested over 20%.

The shot of Maalea gave me goose bumps .. Thank you for the memory... Our room at the Banyans was about 50 feet back on that grass in your photograph..Unreal.. Say, I came across an article on Cannabis Culture that you might like.. you are gonna have to google it as I don't know how to add a link... Also, please look at the art I put on "Oompa"s garden in the shade... Bob Nelson is a family friend and I plan to ask him if he will send me what he's working on.. like the hawaiian beatles art I've had for 1 1/2 years. I will post them here if you like... Google "who's afraid of the big islands minister of cannabis".. written in 2011... Mahalo.. Canman

Hey Surfdout. Can you solve a 30 year "mystery" for me please. Back in 1985 on that trip to Maui as a kid, my dad got a hot tip from someone about a "special" spot to snorkel. He packed us up in the the rental car and drove north passed Kaanapali. He got off in Kapalua and took a windy road past a nice golf course ending up in a parking area with a walking trail to the beach. Down the trail through some trees we ended up on this little rocky beach with a concrete boat ramp of some sort. While snorkeling I kept noticing surfers paddling out of the somewhere. No waves were in sight lol. Maybe a stupid question but was this the entrance to the legendary surf spot "Jaws"?? Aerial photos I've seen over the years make me wonder. Thanks, Canman...

Here's a picture of a local break from my hometown. Tom Curren's favorite break supposedly. It's about a quarter mile south of Point Mugu rock in Ventura County. BTW, both my parents are buried in a cemetery about 5 miles from here as the crow flies. Thanks for that pic again it brought back a lot of good memories.

Wow, nice surf spot. Does it break like that often? Jaws isn't in West Maui but past Paia on the way out towards Hana.

Hey SurfdOut.. Really nice looking plant. Thanks for responding about Jaws, I've been wondering about where the heck i went swimming there on Maui..I had hit the coke can pipe before we left Kihei, only one hit of that golden voice because i was nervous about the parents and all.. You gotta take a look at this like to wannasurf.com for Super Tubes.. The comments are all time.. you will be laughing for days.. Anyways, the spot is so unique that it only breaks when a west swell comes in which is really rare for that little nook.. All that times driving by I only saw it being surfed 2 or 3 times... July 4th week of 1986 the biggest swell of my lifetime (memory) came into Malibu.. I was camping at Leo Carillo with my family.. Waves were breaking over the rock at Leo Carillo.. we drove up to Ventura to watch the surf.. Super Tubes was Barelling overhead with no one out.. bigger than that pic.. Anyways, please read the comments you will laugh for daze... Canman

Guess I can't link it due to lack of computer skills.. you can still find the review at wannasurf.com

Better yet.. i just typed in "surfing at supertubes ventura" and the got plenty of vids...
