Hi all, as my title says, I'm on a hunt for 80's era skunk weed genetics. I'm also looking to kick back and enjoy the company of like minded people.

I hear whispers here and there that it's still around. I ran some Gorilla Roadkill by SkunkReallyWorks a while back. Great variety. I highly recommend it, but its not "roadkill." It's more floral/musky/earthy in taste.I saw a post on a different website where a man found some seeds stashed inside a tape machine from the 1980s. He was looking for the original owner "Steve Ba.." the writing was destroyed on the name. Probably your best bet outside a time machine.
I'm sure there are more fakes than real. The skunk varieties disappeared in the mid 90s. Anyone can make a claim and take your money. I thought about doing an embryo rescue post on some 80s seeds. I actually just mixed up a rescue starter solution, and am waiting a few minutes before I test 1 seed by extracting the embryo from the shell. A test run. The embryo is likely too weak to break open the seed shell. If after a few days it survives, I will try with a few more. If it does not survive, I have to examine what happened and and adjust.I hear whispers here and there that it's still around. I ran some Gorilla Roadkill by SkunkReallyWorks a while back. I thought about giving this one a try:
Anyone have feedback on this?

Memories mainly. Why do you want it?
Thats great. I keep a rose variety for the memories connected with it. The roses came from a bouquet, and I propagated it from cuttings. I'll keep them alive for the rest of my life, or at least as long as I can.Memories mainly.
If I find what I'm looking for, I'll be saving the genetics for sure.
It will be interesting to hear what happens. I'm pretty sure, stored correctly and kept dry, some will remain viable. This would be exactly the old school genetics I'd like to develop tissue cultures from.Thats great. I keep a rose variety for the memories connected with it. That's neat you are looking for them. I got them through a different interest. I like reviving old seeds. Strange that we meet here. I decided to start with some of the seeds from the tape machine. I was going to start with Pine, but since you mentioned it, I will start with the skunk seeds. They are old, and the embryo may be dead. If not, then you can have it when I'm done. I just want to do the embryo revival to see if it's possible with my technique on a cannabis seed over 30 years old. It may sound strange, but I enjoy trying to get old seeds to work. I've actually got some 50 year old apple seeds to germinate and grow into saplings. I'm gave them away to a community garden. If you want follow along and let's see what happens.
