Anything you can add to the nursery soil to lighten it would be great. I've used rice hulls, perlite and sphagnum peat to lighten mine. Straw may help, but I've never used it. I wonder if the nursery would have potting soil more suitable that you could purchase? Ours has a variety of soils.
The nursery near us is very basic. In the city there is a nursery that has a “seedling” soil, but I’ll have to wait. It’s over 4 hours away. I think I’ll try the coco, perlite, worm casing mix with a small amount of the black soil. So frustrating …..
It's worth a try. Good luck. And check the weight of the pot when it's wet, then when it's dry. Check the weight each day and water when the pot is light. But if you see the leaves droop and it's light, time to water around the outside of the pot.

Your plants did well at first, from your pic, so I would continue doing the same again. Once they need to be transplanted then the new mix of potting soil will help. Once you get the soil and proper watering figured out you'll then be able to turn your attention to the other factors such as temp. and humidity, fertilizer, pest management, etc.
Yes I agree. Thanks again for your input. We also have a small green house, but obviously have yet to put it into use. We purchased this because sun is pretty intense at times. As mentioned I want to have 6-8 plants outside and 4-6 inside
Why are the lower leaves kind of yellowing? Is that like a Calmag deficiency? mine sometimes do that too and I've been trying to figure out what it is and how to fix it
I've run the Fox Farm Soil without any nutrients and I had great success just giving it water with that soil
Yes, I’m not surprised about 10 years ago. I grew a plant in my basement in the state. It got to be about 6 feet tall and all I used was fox farm

it’s at 28”, recommendations were 18-24”.If they started drooping right after the light upgrade, they may just be adjusting to the stronger intensity. I'd raise the light a bit and give them a couple days. theseedpharm genetics are usually pretty resilient once they settle in.
If you're gonna buy coco, just use coco and perlite and a basic three-part, non-salt-based nutrient line. No sense trying to reinvent the wheel using multiple grow methods.

I live in South America outside Bogota in the country. Our soil is very dark and apparently very rich cause everything grows well here. I have per light I have cocoa and the worm casings if I were to go into the city, it is four hours away to Bogota There I could get soil for ceilings. It’s the rainy season here so some days it will rain for several hours and then the sun will come out and it will dry it up. My hope is to have 2 to 4 plants inside and 6 to 8 outside. I have a king LED 400 W lamp inside and we have a small greenhouse outside
