Like I said there's a few different methods my method works best for me I guess yours works best for u :)Ha ha ha great analogy but I do think a hermie is probably less severe than HIV lol. If I have a 1% chance of hermies which I've grown several hundred plants over the years which has been Genefinder'd without seeing one so I think that would be in the zone. Then I am willing to take the risk but I think nothing of writing a grow off 1/2 way through because I can do it better I grow differently to most people lol as my priorities are very different.
Since plants naturally hermie as well especially in an all female environment if I had no light leaks I would question if it was a natural hermie. Statistically it's pretty low but ~1 in 1000 female plants will change sex into a male in an all female area but this will change a lot depending on is it 1000 different phenos or 1000 clones of the same plant this figure is in my plant physiology text book as a generic ratio for c3 plants how exactly it would relate to cannabis unsure but cannabis is a c3 plant. It's quite a common problem for commercial growers of food crops depending on the crop although some growers will use clones to minimise this risk often tissue culture to minimise disease vectors being passed on.
Yes it's not the perfect method but it works for me though and I will continue to do it when I grow regs.
