I'm at a loss for pics from last year but I had a few Brandywine tomatoes that did that. My answer isn't male nor female nor hermie.

You live in what's called a "Radiation Free Zone" just like I do. Which basically means that there was once a lot of nuclear radiation coming from any number of military testing locations surrounding you.

In the case of my immediate area some cat took a Geiger counter and registered amazing results standing right next to a Radiation Free Zone sign in Berkeley , California. That's my backyard btw...
