hi after hostile experience in "other" grow forum

Hi i am trying to find a chilled open minded space to share and disuss, I was in an other well known forum about growing and got pretty much a hostile reaction... Becuase I am sourcing parts from ebay and stuff and open to cheaper alternatives not the big brands they insisted on me using.. I agree they will be better, defo, but maybe marginally better, specially if I go the DIY route. Like say a citizen cob on a heatsinnk... Anyway its all part of the experiment I have few panels with decent led modules I have my eye on, on amazon... I will look into more reviews YT videos and such before I made any actual investment into more expensive board. I am open to spending up to 100 gbp on something bad ass, like a cree or citizen thing pre made..

Look I did a grow with some cheap LED flood lights and it worked so I was expanding on that ... I have two very cheap lights yeah sure they could be crap. It is only a few days into the grow so giving the plant time to adjust and see how healthy its looking. One 100w LED flood light (I will test soon and see if it is really 100w) and I got this 50w PAR (well meant to be) light.

I would love to DIY a spectrum reader to see what they are actually doing. AS this cheap little PAR one seems it could just be one of those red and blue jobs which is annoying. I am also open minded that it might be doing what it says..

I know its not the best its just interesting and I am looking into upgrading the main light, but I am dabbling in DIY and stuff to see what I can do on a real shoestring budget..

I have this little stealth grow, well its meant to be stealth.. I need to make the fan quieter.. I am hoping most people will just think its a wardrobe. I want to make a baffle, absorber box to go over the fan on top and make it quieter. I sleep with my head right next to it!

Also this plant is just some bush weed, I found seeds in my weed I bought and chucked them into a big pot, I left them outside for a few months and thought I would throw them in the tent, straight into flowering and see what happens. But i am aware they might not be the best genetic and not produce much so while that is happening I am going to green up some proper genetic I will buy like Lemon Haze (a personal fave and grows well in any situation).

Basically the whole things cost me like £100, free seeds.. Cheap led lights... Tiny little carbon filter!
I am interested to seee what can be achieved with this stuff and I KNOW if I upgraded the lights and get the genetics right I can make a big heavy plant in there! :)

Hello! Some forums have had same members that has known each other for a long time and I guess the last two years have been booming with new growers.

If I was you i would look into dr. Bruce bugbee? I think the name was. He has a lot of interesting videos on lights and other grow related information.

That Bush weed can turn out better than the lemon haze, you never know.

You can get a lux reader on your Phone and measure lux to have a feeling about how high to have your light. I put my hand under and feel if its too warm to my skin or not.

Many people in and out of the growing world have very precise ideas of how things should be. No surprise there.

you should be aware that low light level can give longer intervals between nodes on your plant.

You have a better forum here for sure, the people see a small, short tent, rigged up DIY and judge your setup. To be honest you need an 80" 4x4' tent to work in. I think in 40cm x 140cm tent I can do one plant well? Seems big enough...

Maybe the bush weed is ok so thats why I thought I will flower it for a bit and try to guess weather its worthy of sticking with that or get some pro seeds... But tbh I never had any good experience with the seeds from the "mersh" grows... I dunno if its because I had them hanging around for too many years before I tried to grow them? Once I put a bunch in a pot, like 30 and out of all of them 2 were giving me good bud hahah.. The rest just were puny and weak.

thanks for the advice with the lux meter yeah I need one I will try the phone option again but actually they are pretty cheap.

I do not think "need" is the right term this is your opinion and many have done good grows in smaller spaces even little stealth grows.. But I actually got a larger tent than last time 140cm high haha so I think one plant can be done well here,

Yeah I actually didn't use nutes for ages as I always used soil , very nutrient dense.. But then I learned how to tell when you needs nutes! :) Specially with a small pot, mine ran outa nutes and was all yellow and weak I saw it was deficiency of nitrogen, just basic tomato feed sorted them out...

thats cool they are high end lights I am starting with something diy or cheap and work with that a bit everyone hated me for that at the other forum haha. I might make a diy COB light, just get a heatsink and cob and wire it all up! hould be good bang for the buck..

Had fun and gained experience. Plenty of farmers on here will give you the advice you need while understanding your budget conditions. Have fun and good luck.

yeah bro I seen someone get good bud and they didn't have a a timer, didn't PH their water and didn't even have a tent just some blankets hanging around the plant! They manually turned on and off the HPS light. They watered it every day hahah I thought they did so many things wrong it would never come out but it was good smoke!!

I know I can get something decent outa it as I did a little grow as an experiment with a flood led and it was some good bud just not a big grow at all.. 60cm high grow tent!! this time I think I can get something decent, specially if I upgrade to a COB.

not y first grow but one of my first small personal ones.. the others i was in a team but we had 70 plants hydro on one of them!!

I am here to share and listen.. learn and improve! I love to chat about it all.. at the moment as I said I am doing a kinda diy little super cheap stealth thing with free seed from a draw I bought. SO I am looking at that to upgrade, maybe putting different plant genetics in there, buy some lemon haze feminized seeds maybe and make a mother to clone and have regular weed.. :) greening up those clone while I am flowering the last ones so plenty of time to veg them good and strong. Well even one at a time or I can start selling the clones. I have no space at all so its all a bit mad but its the first time I ever had my own place in my life (37) we all share here in London usually. I am super lucky got this little bedsit with ace landlady and I spending £100 a month on weed sometimes!!! :(

I was like, no I have to do it! I am super poor and currently unemployed on welfare haha. Hence doing it cheap af... But I am up for investing £100 on a new grow light at some point if this is not good...

was looking at my plants today and they're a bit droopy and yellow. But its looking better than it was, it was sitting outside for months in the rain and having slugs at it and what not.. and there has been new growth since i put into my super cheap grow set up! actually in the photos it looks more healthy than I thought, or perhaps it looks more yellow in real life..

I realised that the soil they are in is old and already had some root inside! so probably restricting what the plants can do with their roots
:( I just chucked them in as seeds I collected from my rasta weed without thinking much would happen. hence why they look so badly positioned and I put a stone to separate them!

also saw some mould so I turned the soil with a spoon trying to steer clear of the plants roots.. I used a knife to stab the soil and try and break it up a little get some air flow! I poked a hole in the hole in the bottom to make sure stuff it flowing! You can see how much condensation was building up underneath the pot on the plate I was using!! Grabbed some bricks from the garden and cleaned them so the pot is raised closer to the lights and also giving air flow! :)

soil is cleaner and turned;

I think I might see pistils on both of the plants I have taken some close up shots of what I might think are pistils. Been ages singe I did a grow tbh. I will know 100% in a few days I guess! They might have been going into flowering already outside. In august?
