I dont have any plants at 2500 ppfd right now. Im not even running HPS right now.

My most intense lit top right now is probably 1200ppfd

maybe dont skim a post filled with valid, useful, and accurate information to find bits you can use to try and attack my credibility over, maybe try to actually understand what im saying instead of letting your ego feel threatened. I have one of those I can brandish too, man i read your book like 3 months ago brother. you can keep trying top attack my credibility and knowledge and i will continue to eat your perspectives and lack of experience for breakfast lol.

And no, that ability to take high ppfd isnt strain specific or most the plants you put outside under the sun would die rather quickly. The ability to take high PPFD is based entirely on the nutrient requirements of a plant and whether or not they are being properly met. Lineage will affect that, but not enough to matter indoors or outdoors either one.

ive never come across a plant i could wean into light intensity under an LED at or above 1000ppfd quite easily. so long as the plant was dialed in and thriving and i wasnt hiding the health of the plant from my own eyes by low lighting it.

Oh, and That 5.2g bud would prob be about 2-3 g under 600-800. yes. Ive grown that particular cultivar for over a decade now actually. Pretty familiar with her. I have plants that dont make buds that big under the same light intensity, yes. Can they take that light intensity with benefit though? Yes. They can, if properly dialed in at the root zone.
because i was high as fuck talking about leds and sun and you started talking how i am wrong because you use a hps with 2500. you went off topic soo hard i didnt even want to read
now that i read it first 2 paragraphs you attacked me soo you are the agressor.
then you started using fency english words no idea why was that important but okej you could have used simple english not all of us are born native speakers.
then you started preaching about some people that moved their lights because they had light problems at low ppfd.still nothing to do with my subject soo good that i didnt read it yesterday.
and then you came back to my subject but again skipped the led part soo you started preaching about a lamp that has soo much IR its affecting the meters numbers....
and then again now you jumped in a new post with 1600 for led.i honestly dont beleve an average plant would still survive that much maaaaaybe with high co2 but a regular 400 ppm if a strain manages 1200 withoutfoxtailing.... but then again maybe you had some special strain it happens.but usually thats the max for cannabis

and yes bob is right you can get away with higer ppfd if you reduce the hours, and you keep the leaf temperature at a reasnoble numbers.but for such high ppfd you would have to run an ac in your tent and at that point you using double the power to grow soo you could have used 2 tents with normal light and get more for the same electricity bill

Deep breaths Thatoneguyyouknow.

Moving is not an easy time. Change isn't always easy. It will all work out! It always does. There will be some "issues". You can handle them.

Best wishes on the move.

Hi Guys, thanks for all of the replies šŸ‘. So, TBH I’ve sort of mixed and matched bits of all the advice…. Did some ā€œgentle’ bending, managed to get a 300mm gap from the light. I added a quarter dose of BioGrow to my normal bloom mix, I also increased the CalMag a touch. And I pushed the light up to 100% ! So far the girls seem to love it, looking much better šŸ¤ž

People just don't want to talk DLI! I just started calculating it. The exacting way is measure PPFD every hour throughout the lights on cycle, calculate the DLI each time, record those figures and average them. "That's" supposed to give the exact DLI. Seems like a waste and why would your PPFD change on the hour. What are we growing under strobe lights.

I choose to do PPFD reading under each of my three lights and adjust until I have a close enough PPFD to calculate DLI. I further adjust intensity until I reach the DLI sweet spot.

So to start, read and calculate morning and evening. If your PPFD isn't changing, to me, it seems overkill to measure more than once a day. That's what I gathered from research.

PPFD is very useful for mapping out your floorspace, checking for hotspots or cold spots. But, DLI is what should be used to give your plants the AMOUNT of light they need in a day.

An easy way to think of it is like this... A water analogy:

PPFD is the intensity or rate of water flowing from the hose.
DLI is the amount of water in the bucket you're filling up for the day's worth.

Still you need. PPFD to calculate DLI. I did my own mapping, found out a lot about limitations of my lights and the limits of their footprint. I'm content with having a close enough PPFD around each plant. And yes calculating DLI, making whatever adjustments to stay in the sweet spot for whatever stage.

Calculations always are effected by actual growth. DLI should start lower and grow into the higher range. Whether Veg or Flower that's the way a DLI chart reads.

Not me! 😁😁😁 There's an app for that!

Just thought I would include these two for anyone else looking at this thread. šŸ‘šŸ»
