Hi im growing auto flowers and normal regular feminized seeds will it be a bad idea to goto an 18/6 hour light shedule for the autos or just keep to 24hr until there ready for chopping then change for the reg strains and could u advise what time shedule to goto for the regular plants im not going to cut tops as this is my first proper time. Happy newyear to all when it comes Jeffc or Chazza69

photoperiod cannabis can live under 24hrs on and autos do well under 18hrs on too. so it entirely depends on your preference. me personally i like giving my photos some darkness so why not go 20hrs on 4hrs off meet in the middle kinda thing lol. happy growing.

autos don’t mind at all but then again as long as your photos are happy sure go for it ✌🏻

I thought photos never started budding till you drop the light cycle
they dont but to my experience after spending a long time under 24/0 schedule some may become stressed. thats why i like giving them their off time.

thats the reason i suggested 20/4 as a happy compromise for both.

oh i though they were way apart wow i think you should flip the photos and take the diminished yield on autos under 12/12 but get those photos to flower bc they wil not wait happily for 10 more weeks while your autos finish. if you can’t get another full setup to flower those autos seperately i think this is what i would do.

or you need to up pot and keep them vegging but it will be hard because they will also grow very large so if you can keep a regimen of up poting root pruning and pruning the plant back then you can go 20/4 and keep them going but if its gonna be too much work then go with scenario 1. your call buddy.

What difference does it make having 300mm pots side by side bud someone else said it would be fine to go 24hr till autos got chopped then switch light cycle for photos

Whats your thoughts on cutting tops on photos with 5 nodes and above it sets back 2 weeks i read

those autos are gonna take a long time from here on out bc they are not even flowering yet. so at least 8+ weeks.

photos vegging for 8 weeks are gonna get huge first of all and cover a lot of that tent and they are gonna get root bound probably so if you wanna go down that route just be ready to do some pruning and possibly root pruning too buddy. also as i said 24hrs on for that long of a period you will most likely start seeing stress on them just saying.

honestly what i would do is i would focus on the photos at this point and let them go 20/4 or 24 till they cover the circumference of their pots and just switch to 12/12 and get what i get from the autos and plan my next grow better. this is just me ofc my 2 cents if you will.

as i mentioned i thought you had autos which were like 3-4 weeks into flowering already which would have been fine you could veg photos under 24 or 20/4 for 4 weeks and harvest and flip i didnt know they were germinated at the same time.

also it wouldn’t hurt to add some aeration material to that medium next time.

Yeah i got a big bag of 70% coconoir and 30% pearlite is that cool mate. I would top the photos just now and then switch to 18/4 light do u think ?

if you are not gonna flower them now keeping 20/4 or 24 will actually keep your photos shorter which is good imo and autos will do their things happily.

even if you decide to focus on the photos and flower them regardless of the outcome from your autos photos can still veg under these schedules.

yeah look up mainlining for photos it takes some time to train them that way and it would be beneficial for your autos to stay under 20 or 24hrs on while you are training the photos.

yeah 70/30 coco perlite would be fine. what nutes are you using?

Yes it was but there is conflict with people saying focus on the photos and drop light to 18/6 but its only 27 days since seed so im abit lost there heres a pic 5 left reg feminized 5 right autos

one of the photos seem like a runt so probably 4 decent ones. there is no conflict you can veg photos under 20/4 or 24 as well.

lets say your autos started flowering next week and you are gonna veg your photos another 4 weeks. this means your autos will get 20/4 schedule for the first 3-4 weeks which will help them grow bigger than 18/6.

so if you are gonna veg your photos anyway why not do it in a way which benefits your autos as well.

That's true. Most set the light cycle to 12/12.

What's your thoughts on cutting tops on photos with 5 nodes and above it sets back 2 weeks i read
It's a good idea to let the branches below the cut to develop enough to grow colas. I usually look for at least 4 healthy nodes that have good looking branches growing from them. I'm going for 8 nodes for an OG Kush I have growing now. I plan to grow it longer, though. Most of the pruning I do is done with the goal of growing good colas. Plants usually don't grow the same, however, so much of the pruning I do involves assessing how the plant is growing.

so if you are gonna veg your photos anyway why not do it in a way which benefits your autos as well.
I think the main problem is timing the growth cycles. The photos might not be ready to flower when the autos are. Also, why flower autos on a photo's light duration when they benefit from more light? Anyway, I don't run my autos and photos in the same tent. Separating them is much easier.
