You can put too much heat too close with lights but, you can never give them too much light, you'll never match the light intensity of the sun. More light = bigger yield, period. Plants need a certain amount of nutrients to survive and thrive but, their main source of food is the light. It's pretty hard to get too close with those cfl's, as long as they're not touching it's pretty much ok, as I'm sure you already know. I had to trim a couple of leaves here and there, the fucking thing is still growing, lolol, I try to keep the lights 3-5 inches away from the plant. This weekend I'm gonna get one of those 400 watt LED light. bro with the led's check the draw wattage to see real power my mars are all roughly half what there model no is . ie 400 = 178w.
