Some strains/phenos have hollow stems, but there are a group of plant pests called borers that will eat a small hole in a stem and then eat the pith. I used to get these, sometimes, when I grew outdoors. The holes are hard to find, but they usually have a bunch of small caterpillar dropping right at the entry hole. I used to find them after harvest, if a branch was removed and one of the bastards was revealed.
I don't see any borer poop in those pics. It's probably genetic.
