Since my Frigidaire has Auto-restart and I don't like getting up at 8am to turn down the onboard tstat, nor being at home at 8pm to turn it back up, I wired it to a programable tstat. $20 at Lowes.
Then from the HVAC store I got a Contactor (2 pole, 24v coil)$15, Transformer (24v)10$, and outlet boxes and wires from lowes $20.
From the breaker to the metal box, power goes to the tformer and one side of the contactor (white wire on top). Tformer 24v goes one leg on one side of the contactors 24v coil, other leg goes to Tstat R screw. From Tstat Y screw bring the wire back to the opposite side of the contactors 24v coil. Now on the opposite side of the contactor from where you brought power into you are going to wire the outlet.
Here is my panel it comes off, also my light controller.
I can tell they like the colder temps at night.
