House and Garden Shooting Powder / PH rise

Hey does anyone else use shooting powder? I think I might have picked up a bad batch. When I add it to the nute solution my Ph goes from 5.5 to the high 8's!!??? I never had this happen before.??? any ideas??

did not get that when i used it in the past can you give some more info ? newts used base ec befor adding and anything else in the tank ? what medum are you in ?
how are you checking ph and ec with a wand/pen ? or test kit ?

You are supposed to ph your solution agian after each ammendment added to H&G base solution, so if you mix up your base nutes per the instructions and ph after the a&b mix and then add all your ammendments, then ph again and adjust.
