Blue sticky traps for thrips. Should be at every grow shop.

Also fruit fly traps (or a vinegar and dawn solution in a small bowl) at the base of the stem seem to help control them.

Your window to spray the plants down without stressing yourself out is closing. A spinosad dousing after a minor defol should be your first step.
I had problems with them for years. They actually lay eggs in the crevices of the plants. I had a guy at the grow shop that I fought knew alot and he had me using every type of soil drench to kill them and they just kept coming back. I finally did my own research and found out that they live on the plants. They are actually pretty easy to see. They will be on the top and bottoms of the leaves small less than 1mm long and they stay in the crevices of the leaf folds until you touch the leaves than they will run and jump. They are a tan color
