Is this getting close to harvest time? Bud growth appears I have slowed, pistils turning brown. I did buy a loupe, but it's was delivered to the wrong address so I've gotta order another

Here in a week or so you'll eek on into the "It's all preference" Territory.

Dont even consider for at least* another week

Def needs more time. Give it 2-3 weeks and ask again. She’s still producing white pistils and you want the pistils to turn brown and recede back into the calyx.

A few more weeks might really help it finish strong.

Couple updates pictures... what's the consensus now, getting closer? the pistils look more like what I see online as "milky" more so than clear.

The smell is strong and it is now sticky to the touch.

I harvest when all of the trichomes are milky and very few are clear, if any. It looks like you still have 2 weeks or so to me.

Thanks, was thinking it was closer than that but, I'll leave it a few more days and monitor things closely.

I like to see at least 10-20 percent amber before I harvest.

This plant is making me nervous, been checking almost daily, the leaves are starting to look less than great and growth appears to have slowed considerably, but the trichomes don't look to be changing much more. Is this normal? Just a case of be patient right now? I can snap some pics of the whole plant if needed.

This is normal in flower. As you progress through this stage, older growth will begin to yellow and fall off. In the BBQ world, when our meat hits a certain temperature, it will sit at that temperature for a bit before progressing further. We call this "the stall". I suppose you could consider this a similar thing for a certain stage of flower. Once it gets out of "the stall", you should see your buds swell up pretty quickly. Once about 90% of the pistils are brown and you have roughly a 70/30 mix of cloudy and amber trichomes, your girls are ready.

Ah yeah, I am familiar with the stall.... OK, so glad this is normal. Almost 3 weeks since I first asked, so was getting a little nervous about something going wrong, this is rot of a practice plant (the other 5 are a good few weeks behind this one). Here are a couple pictures of the plant as of today. Most of the pistils appear brown to me, so it cannot be far to go.

There's a very real preference side of this too. I used to let all my plants go mostly amber and 100% red pistils before I'd even think of harvesting so I wouldn't loose any end weight potential.

I have several sativa lineages though, my favorites tbh, where if you waited til all the pistil were red and receded you'd never harvest any flower lmao. Lots of sativa's stack til harvest regardless, and usually the pistil break from the ovule and stay exposed after swelling in these plants too. (I know this ain't one of those, just rambling lol)

But now a days, I tend to pull indicas for myself a week or two before most do. I tend to let sativa's go a little extra.

The only time I even let indicas get "ripe" personally, is if I'm growing them for someone else.

If a sativa snob like myself let that go another 3 weeks I would very likely not enjoy the smoke and end up giving most of it away.

At soon as 3/4 or so of the trichs have gone cloudy with a few clear and a few amber, white pistils or not, i consider the plant to have entered the "whatever your preference is" zone lol

Pretty much regardless of plant, once I have trichs going Amber in abundance rapidly, I tend not to enjoy smoking that flower as much. Which is weird considering my favorite sativa's all have a mild CBN content at harvest that's more to do with terp chemistry decarboxylation complimenting a cannabinoid profile me thinks, than oxidation of resins though.

This is actually a good point here as well, especially for new growers such as myself (this is my 1st). Preference can also play a part, but I have no real preference to go by.

One thing that I wish I knew was what kind of plant this was, I unfortunately have no idea. It flowered much sooner than all the other plants though and also grew much smaller, that's all I got. Anyway, as I wrote already, I'll keep an eye on it as I don't think it really has all that long to go.
