The need for RO is overrated IMHO. Plants have grown for millions of years and done well before "pure" water was invented. Unless you have really hard water, and there are better ways to address that than RO filtration, and you can get rid of the Cl in your tap water (carbon filters do it I'm pretty sure) RO systems are really not needed.
I run RO water because I run bennies in my regimen and any kind of chlorine would kill them off. I also prefer RO to tap water as I am able to dial in new strains much more quickly as a result of knowing that everything that I am feeding my plants is what I put in the water myself. With tap water you never really know what minerals in ur towns water all u know is how many ppms are in it. So on that note yeah plants will obviously grow using tap water, but RO definitely has its perks.
