Why do I ask? I see some seed corps stating their seed for strain ______ (fill it in) takes 8-9 weeks of flowering. A few might stretch that to 10 weeks. However, in my beginner experience, it seems like a full flower grow should take more like 12 weeks.
What I think I see at 8-9 weeks are nice white trichomes, but I don't see them fading to amber at all. I don't see how to harvest that early unless you're sacrificing the end product. Here's my guess: growers like to rush it and harvest early. I will even bet that dispensary grows are harvested early to keep the money rolling. When I keep waiting into week 11 or so, the stems are definitely leaning more which means the buds are still growing. At 8 weeks, there was no weight to bend them yet.
Thoughts and wisdom from you guys? What's the avg you wait to harvest and why? Are there ways to speed up the flower maturity process?

Some just take longer . Some don't go to amber whatsoever. If people harvest premature then well that product will be trash. My first grow all 4 strains were ready around 10 weeks in cococoir. Alot of variables could probably change harvest time. Environment. medium. amount of nutrients. stress. probably all play a big role.

My last harvest got cut at 8 weeks .
Just broke out the Crescendo from cure today for first time .
Both of my buddies had head rushes on first hit of joint .
Better late then never is for those who missed the bus IMO.
Amber IS your THC degrading .
My benchmark is 70 days from first signs of buds. Breeder recommendations are not really reliable. Genetics matter, but even seeds from the same batch will need different parameters.
Some are ready a bit earlier, some a couple weeks later. A hot environment and feeding too heavy too late seem to stretch the harvest window out and foxtail buds.
I have had a rare few that were ready at 8 weeks. A head rush effect tells me it certainly needed another week or so. It takes longer than one might think to go from clear to cloudy to amber. I usually shoot for 5% amber (when looking through the mag there’s one here one there etc.) to know it’s where I want to harvest. After a while you won’t even need to magnify it, you’ll just know the patina you’re looking for at a glance.
