Am I out of it? I asked a guy fo sell me a half pound, he gave me 224 grams. He says everyone does 224 for a half and 448 for a pound. Wtf?

That’s how I’ve always known it. 1, 3.5, 7, 14, 28, 112, 224, 448 & combinations of.

Yeah, that's what I've been reading online too. The last time I handled pounds or half's was about 1985. Times change I guess. Thanks for taking the time to answer 😂

Just out of curiosity, what were you expecting?

Well, the number that sticks in my head is 454 = almost 1 pound, so I was expecting 227. The first time it happened I told him it was 3 grams light, he took my word for it and dropped off 3. The second time too, same thing. Not til the third time did we realize that I was expecting a different weight than he was bringing. When he told me that a half pound was 224, I argued, because, well, a half pound is technically 226.7. I didn't know that the community had adopted the "round to multiples of 28" idea. My friends and I didn't do that back in 1985.
