Vivosun 4x4 grow tent with 6" exhaust, carbon filter, two oscillating fans, smart controller. Two 150w led lights. Tent is in basement, temp mid-50s. Tent heater comes on infrequently to hold the tent at 70 degrees. I now have exhaust running 2 mins on, 18 mins off. The speed is set to 4 - my observed low setting which caused minimal wall compression. The circulation fans cycle 3 mins on, 12 mins off.
I am new to cultivation with question about necessary exhaust. Since heat is not an issue ... How much exhaust is necessary? I understand wanting fresh air introduced into the environment. Guess my question is more to the minimum requirements. Would running the exhaust once per hour suffice? Or maybe as few as 3 (or more) times daily?
What about circulation fans - what is the minimum cycle to move interior air around? Would once per hour suffice?
Thanks much!
Donald

I run my oscillating fans and carbon exhaust 24/7 but itโ€™s illegal here so canโ€™t be having the sweet sweet smell of dank buds wofting over the neighbourhood especially at lights out u want your oscillating fans going to stop humidity spikes there are controllers u can buy that will turn your exhaust on and off with high heat or humidity sorry for rambling anwser others will chime in soon๐Ÿ‘

I run my fans 24/7, to swap in fresh air, and to keep the air moving around my plants. I've never seen anything beyond bro science about what the minimum cycle would be. The only slightly scientific thing I'll contribute is that if you run your humidity on the higher end, airflow becomes much more important to reduce the likelihood of powdery mildew.

This is differnt in soil than hydro. A good soil has microbiology microrizan and other fungus that exhale co2 if you grow in rockwool or dwc it wonโ€™t do that.

I was sitting here thinking the same thing pert near
is it a bad Idea to not exhaust the tent/closet for the whole lights out in a 12/12 clycle
in soil

Your fan and exhaust should run constantly. This prevents mold in your grow area. Especially during periods of darkness. Mold loves dark and stale air.

for me I'm in a legal state
and upstairs w/o roommates
I picked up a few items early some time back. and I may leave my carbon filter out while I'm here
my flower room is new so I'm monitoring the temps and I will probably need to put my heater in. and I thought at most run my exhaust 15 min per hour on the timer
