What do you mean by "indent the edges of your grow space". Do you mean for instance, if I am running 4 plants per 4x4, to center each plant in a 2x2 space?
36 plants in a 4x4 would be a impressive squeeze. I have 13 in a bit larger sq ft then that and I might have done to many. My first round I had 1 plant that took up most that area. If you want to run high numbers 1 get a bigger room 2 flower from seed and start 2 plants and then 2 plants every 2 weeks. What's the best way to utilize this space and plant count? 12 rows of 3 plants? 18 rows of 2 plants? a mix, 2 pots in one row, then 3 pots in the next row... continue this pattern?
Veg time is not an issue... Have 6 weeks to veg if I really need too.

I'm running Gavita DE 1000w... 4 of them over a 4x24 space.
Most people cover a 4x4 area with those or could push up to a 5x5 so you may need to add 1 to 2 more lights in there. Even at 5x5 4 would cover 4x20ft. Maybe throw 2 x630w cmh in there between fixtures? Either way best of luck on your grow
